My wife had wanted to try the Blue Moon for a long time and today we stopped in for lunch. We are retired and generally prefer sharing a meal, making room for either pu-pus or a dessert, so she was immediately dismayed with a notice on the menu that splitting a lunch entree would cost an additional $2.00. Why restaurants have the chutzpah to charge extra for an empty plate is beyond me. But we were there and decided to each get something. She had the egg salad sandwich on whole wheat and I the shoyo chicken plate lunch. The egg salad, she said, was "okay" but my shoyo chicken was very good, with a wonderful sweet/spicy soy sauce marinade (Hawai`i's answer to teriyaki chicken). We also opted for the homemade key lime pie which was good but nothing super special. Everything was good enough that we'll probably come back someday. The restaurant itself is very clean and nice looking. Restrooms and wi-fi are for paying customers only.

Visited the Blue Moon cafe after a long flight to Maui; looking for a quick, tasty meal. At first it looked a bit run down, but after a helping of their homemade "chips" we knew we had chosen a great spot! No frills, but fresh comfort food for decent prices. Family friendly.

This is our favorite place for Shoyu and Teriyaki chicken! Good burgers as well and a great place to stop on your way to the airport for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Owner operated, good service, and good home cooking type of food. Not fancy, but also not expensive at all. I recommend it highly.

We stumbled upon the Blue Moon on our first day, trying to summon the energy to tackle the grocery shopping after an exhausting journey. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere and large selection, many 'local' dishes fit the bill. We tried the shome "show me" chicken. Delicious. The owner shared some tips to help us get started in Kihei. While you're there, check out the clothing outlet next door.
