We set out a bit early with our kayak guide, John. He was thorough and patient explaining how to kayak and his expectations of us. We took to the sport pretty easily with his excellent instructions and were soon far off shore experiencing the beauty of Maui from a whole new perspective. John is exceptionally knowledgeable regarding sea life, Hawaiian culture, and kayaking skills. He was fun to spend the morning with and took us to a couple of amazing spots for snorkeling. He checked in with us several times to ensure we were doing what we had hoped to be doing and were enjoying ourselves. He really went the extra mile to show us a great adventure. We saw a reef shark and many turtles, including a huge one that must have been about 6 feet long. It was a really great experience. He provided us with some granola bars and fresh coconut water after our excursion. A great trip!

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Maui and after doing extensive research, on different activities and companies for kayaking, we chose Hawaiian Paddle Sports as you get your own personal tour and are not in a big group.

Our tour guide was Patrick and he was great. He was extremely knowledgable about the island and scenery. We have kayaked many times before, but only on rivers, which is definitely different then kayaking on the ocean. After signing the paperwork and giving Patrick our keys to lock in his car, we put on our life jackets and walked down to the shore. The take off is very intimidating but as long as you listen to your instructor all should be fine.

Patrick followed in his separate kayak. He also had water for us. An amazing perk was that he brought a digital waterproof camera and took many pictures of our adventure. He sends them to you online for free! I don't know of any other company that does that.

On the way out, the water was relatively calm as it was first thing in the morning. We saw some turtles swim by at Turtle Town and saw some fish while we snorkeled. Getting back in the kayak after snorkeling was a challenge, as you have to hoist yourself up in the middle of the ocean which we just weren't used to. I had some trouble with my snorkel gear and Patrick was so patient because I was getting frustrated. But he kept the mood light and eventually I was able to see some fish.

Not before long, the water got really wavy and we actually had to stop our trip so we could safely make our way back to shore. This was the biggest rush of our trip as we paddled for our lives, hoping our kayak would not flip over in the ocean. When we got back safe, we were offered coconut water out of a real coconut, and healthy granola bars which we devoured after our extensive, paddling experience. We definitely had an awesome time and this was our favorite activity of our vacation.

Don't think twice and book it with these guys. This is truly the best one, and we loved every minute of it?!!

We opted for the Honolua Bay kayak excursion and were lucky enough to have Patrick as our guide. He is very patient, knowledgable on the water and great at helping beginners get comfortable on the water. He's also great at spotting marine wildlife and throughout our tour he was spotting sea turtles (young and old), fish, and spinner dolphins. Within a few minutes of starting our tour, we were in the middle of a pod of at least 30 dolphins. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time and I would highly recommend the private kayak tours. Yes, the tours start early but that's to get the best water conditions and a chance to see wildlife before troves of snorkelers and tour boats hit the bays.

This was our first trip to Maui and didn't want generic tourist experience. We wanted something a little more intimate where we could learn about the culture and history of the island while engaging in a fun activity.

John was an excellently guide taking the time to make sure we were comfortable before embarking in to the ocean. He is very knowledgable and is passionate about his job...and that enthusiasm translates to a five-star experience.

We saw more turtles than we we could imagine (about 10), saw a ton of fish, and John educated us on al of them.

When you go on a tour with John, you are going out as friends but coming back in as family. We are already planning on returning to do the kayak whale watch trip with John.

Our tour was, in a word, flawless. We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolfins near the coastline. Also, our guide Patrick was very knowledgeable about the various forms of life that we ran into on our tour.
