POSITIVES: Location, location, location! I was able to walk out the door and be at the pool or bbq in 10 seconds and could be standing with my feet in the surf in about 90 seconds. The proximity to Kamaole Beach I was great and it was only a few minutes drive to other great snorkling spots. I was excited to find this unit was just as it was in the pictures, except the beds were turned a different direction. The kitchen was fully stocked so when I made spaghetti there was even a colander to strain the water. There was also detergent for the dish washer and clothes washer. Cable TV and WiFi was appreciated. There were beach towels, snorkling masks, snorkels, boogie boards and toys for young children (we left a pool noodle for others to use). The property itself was in great condition and parking was never an issue. The addition of A/C units made the days more comfortable but opening the doors to let the trade winds blow through made the condo comfortable as well. At night we slept with the master bedroom sliding glass door open and could hear the waves crashing on the shoreline across the street. The limited amount of traffic passing by was not overly distracting and as it got later in the evening the traffic got lighter. The grass area with dual BBQ's facing the beach was awesome and had two tables to eat at outside. Next door to the KBC is the Chevron Station and the ABC store offering groceries and souvineers. The closest supermarket is only 1 mile away.
NEGATIVES: The curtains had minor tearing (1"-1-1/2") in places and there was an unknown stain in a corner of the carpet in the master bedroom. The beach umbrella was torn and unusable when opened (we left a new sunshade for others to use). But the main issue was ants. There were ant traps scattered throughout the condo so I know they are working on the problem and we saw the occasional large black ant, but those were single sightings here and there. The biggest problem was when our niece noticed small red ants in the 2nd bedroom a few days into the trip. They were on one of the beds, along the baseboards, windowsill, nightstand and windowsill. We found bug spray in a cabinet downstairs and the maintenance manager Tom (great guy!) came and sprayed too although this unit was not his responsibility. We stripped the sheets off one bed and washed them and our niece used the other bed. When we went to leave at the end of our 10 day visit, I noticed the small red ants were still on the second bed. Had there been additional people staying in the unit this could have presented a problem.
CONCLUSION: Overall we loved staying in the unit (ants excluded) and the Kamaole Beach Club was a great facility in a great location. We enjoyed our 10 day vacation and would stay there again. It is a small complex with a family atmosphere.
