“Lives up to the hype!”

Great food. Reasonable price (though not cheap). Casual atmosphere. No ocean view - it's located in a strip mall. Your table is an inverted surfboard. Loaded with locals. Recommend the 'Ono Plate'.

“Great, Fresh Fish”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

The young woman at the counter was very friendly and thorough in explaining the menu, and the chef even came out to see how we liked our meals - that's great customer service for an order-at-the-counter kind of place. The mahimahi grilled dinner was very tasty. The seafood chowder was among the best I've ever had. Great value!

“Take the other reviews with a grain or two of salt”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

First, the review that mentioned that the fish tacos were too full to eat with your hands as suggested. This is somewhat true. These tacos are very full and they do suggest to eat with your hands. Since when is too much food a bad thing? Just pick it up, eat as much as you can with your hands then eat up the rest with your fork. I'm happy with 2 full tacos for dinner instead of getting a skimpy one.
Secondly, for the comments about the overly religious nature of the shop...each table inside has a framed menu back above it. In this info back, he does mention his appreciation for all that he has been given and his support for the troops. Small print, easily ignored. I wouldn't use that as a basis for skipping this fun island spot.
I would agree that it's location isn't very island like, but that area is full of little shops and restaurants to it's not out of place.
Give the fish tacos a try and eat them with your hands. It makes the flavors blend together.

“Can't beat the fresh, flavorful fish tacos or seafood chowder!”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

We have been there twice and going back tonight. It is our new fave in Kihei. It is a small restaurant with a very friendly courteous staff. We love the fish tacos(shared) and the delicious chowder. We can't bring ourselves to try anything else because those items are outstanding. Try them, you won't regret out. Their food is very healthy and mostly low . Enjoy!

“Seafood chowder will bring me back”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

I frequently order clam chowder when I eat out. This fish chowder tops most clam chowders. Good seasonings give it a good flavor. The fresh fish probably helps. Give it a try. I'm from Seatle and if my name were Ivar I would still recommend you try this seafood chowder.
