Cuatro restaurant has a simple easy elegance that is very popular with locals. The experience begins with a sincere welcome with unusually focused service. The setting is vaguely country French and the menu is simple but varied enough for most tastes. My family and friends dined here several times on our last visit and each visit was delightful. We tried most of the menu and of course the local catch of the day is hard to beat. Cuatro is hidden in the corner of Kihei Town Center across from Kalama Beach Park. We arrived a bit early and enjoyed the sunset at the park before our reservation. The Restaurant has no wine or liquor, but is next to a grocery with a good selection. Corkage is gracious and we did not get charged. Cool they can make it on the quality of the food only. Worth the search.

By far the best meal we had on Maui. There were 8 of us, eating a variety of the main dishes, and everything was excellent. Everybody who got the fish (ahi or mahi mahi) loved it. A few had the shrimp scampi, which was great too. I had the grilled chicken, which was stuffed with ham, cheese and peppers, which was also amazing. The dessert was also very good, but a bit overpriced IMO. It's hidden away in a strip mall, so you don't see it from the main road, but well worth a stop. Make sure you BYOB, but remember there is a $7 corkage fee. Our bills averaged $30-40 per person.

We ordered a local tuna fish in "classic" presentation. It was excellent. However that food would have benefited of a little better frame. Price for two, without wine$ 70.

We went to Cuatro on the second night of our honeymoon, and it was the best meal we had on Maui! As everyone else has suggested, the spicy tuna nachos are not to be missed! The crispy wontons with expertly prepared ahi and a delicious aioli started the meal off right.

For our entrees, my wife ordered the fish of the day (a fantastic mongchong) prepared in the Classic style: sauteed with rock shrimp in a lemon caper butter sauce with white truffled mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was amazing! I ordered the mahi mahi prepared Riviera style - roasted with tomatoes, onion, garlic, peppers, and a phenomenal chimichurri sauce.

They only offer one dessert, and we can see why. It was vanilla and chocolate ice cream with roasted mac nuts, fresh fruit, and probably the best homemade caramel sauce we've ever had!

Cuatro is BYOB, and is located in the Foodland Center in Kihei town. It's quite small, so be sure to make a reservation.

My husband and I went to Cuatro on our first night in Maui. The ahi nacho appetizer was amazing. We tried them several other places, and Cuatro's were by far the best. My husband had an ahi entree and I tried the opakapaka. Our server was not the best at describing the menu/offerings, but there was another server there who gave great descriptions, so we just listened in on what he said! We also spoke with another server for a while who gave us tips on other good places to eat and things to do.

The restaurant is BYOB, though we didn't have anything with us so I can't say what the corkage fee would be. It's a smallish restaurant that is fairly nondescript.
We really wanted to get back there (for the nachos if nothing else!) before we left but ran out of time.... we're planning our next trip to Maui though and Cuatro will be on the list!
