I'm new to the hobby of Birding or Ornithology, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's never fun to be the slow person in the group, and my fellow tour guests all seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. But our guide made me feel very comfortable, she was both informative and enthusiastic, without any awkwardness with my lack of knowledge.
It was a comfortable luxury ride up to Haleakala national park, where we saw lots of different species (most of them a 1st sighting for me). We continued to check out other sites around the island that I had either never been to, or at least never stopped there to appreciate the diverse birds and wildlife.
Overall a really fun day, my first adventure in the Birding world, and I couldn't have picked a better tour.

Well planned and organized trip. Good van, food, beverage and company. Able to get 11 new birds for my life list. Well planned out. Delphine does a great job. She has good general knowledge of the island and wildlife and the birds. They provide a birding checklist for your use. This was a highlight of our trip to Maui.

From the time we were picked up in the beautiful Mercedes Sprinter at our condo door step we knew we were in for a great time. We were greeted by our guide, Delphine, who was so personable and professional. The tour included everything we could need from deluxe snicky snacks, beverages, plenty of water to keep us hydrated, since we were travelling to the summit of Haleakala, binoculars and even walking sticks if needed. Of course, all the tools for keeping track of the birds we could anticipate to find were readily available. We got to spend plenty of time at each spot for bird watching and photo opportunities. Delphine was very aware of the weather patterns at the summit, so she made good care to get us up to the top for premium viewing with minimal clouds. It was an extremely clear day...we could see the Big Island! Hosmer's Grove was the highlight for birding. At the days end we had seen 23 species of birds, even 3 - 4 rare Hawaiian birds! I would highly recommend this trip even if you are a novice birder like myself.
