The lid on my soda wasn't secured on the cup correctly, it dropped all over my dinner and wifes cell phone.

Located in an exterior alcove of unusual fast food sellers ( next to a German sausage emporium), Ba-le is one of a chain of 25 outlets throughout the islands. I was looking for anything but a hamburger for lunch, and this fit the bill splendidly. Vietnamese fare, with lots of bowl and plate options in addition to sandwiches. We opted for lemongrass chicken sands on baguettes. Now, the baguettes won't make you forget your favorite boulangerie, but they were heads and tails above what you get in most sandwich places. Baked on premises, they say. The fillings had excellent taste, altho to be honest, I couldn't swear to exactly what all it was. Mediocre Thai iced tea, but a very tasty cup of mango tapioca, of all things, made a delightful dessert. I rate this place average in the scope of all restaurants. However, for it's intended purpose-- inexpensive, different, lower-fat, and tasty lunch fare, I'd rate it 4to5.

Yum - love the sandwiches. On fresh, crunchy crust french rolls with lots of fresh veg (daikon, carrot, cilantro) - we had the pork and lemongrass chicken. For $5, you can't beat that with a stick for value on Maui. The pork was delicious, a chicken a little in the sketchy parts department but otherwise scrumptious. Haven't tried their other menu items, which include pho and meat/stir fry dishes.
