We stayed in unit 503 that was a vrbo unit. We did lots of research and realized some issues that were going to come up.

The main issue was there was no air conditioning. We traveled in February, stayed for two weeks and never had an issue. There was a nice breeze. Our condo had a north/south exposure so we never had sun beating in on us.

There was street noise. Maui is a crowded. And Kihei Drive is a pretty busy street. I was sitting on the lanai the first morning there and was drinking my coffee. I was getting a little irritated by the street noise. But, I looked out at the water and saw whales spouting and jumping. The noise did not bother me after that.

I loved the camaraderie between the visitors and the residents. Everyone was so nice. Sunset is celebrated every day up on the roof. The view is amazing. Several people blow into conch shells right after the sunset. Beautiful.

There is an ancient Hawaiian fish pond in front of the resort. This is a great place for kids to play in the water. And there were at least three resident sea turtles we saw several times while on the rocks. There is also a lot of grassy area for kids to run around. We didn't have kids with us but we enjoyed watching the little ones around us.

This condo was not perfect but we had a very attentive owner and the view was beautiful. This condo is right on the water and was reasonably priced.

You can go down to Wailea and pay 800+ per day and probably still have street noise. We are really glad we chose Menehune Shores.

My review is for the resort not the unit we rented. Unit 202 would have a 5 star rating.

The resort is very older, but beautifully maintained. There are beautiful flowers and trees all over the grounds. It is right on the ocean, there is some aquatic life very close by. We saw a couple of turtles in the cove area right in front of the pool area. From the roof top area , we could see whales in the distance. I didn't love the beach area for swimming, it's a little rugged and rocky. Excellent for strolling and beach combing. This is a very quiet, peaceful place. If you are looking for a party, this is not your place.

You can walk to a few restaurants from here. There is an Indian restaurant on site that we didn't try.

Unit 202 was fantastic. It has been gutted and completely remodeled. You can rent it on home away. I peaked into a lot of the units as we were walking by, many were very outdated. Not all of the units are of equal quality.

The room itself was okay. It had all our necessities, but lacked in some areas (no pizza cutter, matching dishes/utensils). Can't complain too much about that though. Our unit had no AC, but the breeze was enough to keep it comfortable inside.

The building was nice, seemed like work was constantly being done during our stay (though not to intrusive). They were replacing many windows (not on our unit) and painting the entire exterior.

Rooftop made for beautiful sunsets, but it was windy up there. BBQs are up there as well free to use and they work great. Picnic Tables as well. There's a group that blow conch's at sunset every night, which is fun to see!

The pool was nice, good temperature and nice location.

The beachfront view and location is amazing. The building is close to the road, so expect road noise (could hear motorcycles and trucks and sirens at all hours).

We stayed in Unit 207.

We loved the Menehune! It's a great place for families. The pool is great and there is awesome beach for kids right next door. Also, free parking for one car included with rental.

The rooms are spacious and we had a great view of the ocean from our Lanai. The location is toward the Northern side of Kihei, but still not far from restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

For families I would highly recommend Menehune Shores!

Stayed in 507 for 14 days and just loved it. The two bedroom rental has a beautiful view of the ocean and pool area from the balcony, and both the living room and master have balcony access. The kitchen is well equipped and the closets have coolers, inner tubes and towels for our use. While the decor is a bit dated, the landlord was in measuring for new window treatments and measuring for new tile to replace the carpet in the living area as well as in unti air conditioning. There is also a new sofa bed! There is a pool and bbq area downstairs and roof top BBQs as well, though it was windy up there. We enjoyed the unique rock-lined lagoon which afforded us a calm swimming area along a sparsely populated beach. The turtles came up on the rocks to sun themselves and we thoroughly enjoyed their visit! We are rebooking for next year and look forward to the unit improvements scheduled for July!!
