“Great service here!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

A lovely and pleasant hotel which had amazing pool / Jacuzzi. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, AC in both the bedroom and lounge area. Bathroom was nice but a little small for an American bathroom.

The hotel offered a shuttle service which took us to restaurants and other destinations within 3 miles of the hotel which was great. Reception staff were very friendly and quick to help where they could.

The lighting in the room was very dark. My partner is registered blind and struggled to see anything in the room as energy efficient light bulbs were low, and corridor to room was even darker, but main reception was well lit.

The café (poolside café) was very good and had great food for breakfast, lunch and tea, but the hotel restaurant was closed for the full 10 days we were at Maui. The restaurant was within walking distance of a number of shop and eating places in Maui (however for more choice of cuisine we would recommend travelling further e.g. visiting Lahiana )

Room Tip: Order deluxe rooms as these were bigger :-)

We stayed here for 10 nights in August. Part of the reason is that we wanted to be near the Kamaole beaches in Kihei. Kamaole Beach I is just across the street, and beaches II and III are a bit south along the same street. There seem to be abundant staff, and they always greeted us with a pleasant "Aloha". The pool and spa were in an attractive setting and there was an extensive exercise room with weights and machines. Food can be purchased at a poolside restaurant, which also featured live music nightly. (However, we weren't pleased with the two meals we purchased.) Be aware that there is a $17 or 18 resort fee per day that you are required to pay, said to be for several items, including WiFi, free local transportation, towels, parking, etc. The only problem we had, and it is not the hotel's fault, is that one night we were sleeping with the door to the lanai open and smelled cigarette smoke, apparently from an adjacent lanai. I call the front desk to confirm that this was a no-smoking hotel. She confirmed that smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of Hawaiian hotels, and that she would call security immediately. I closed the door, but assume the problem got resolved.

The Maui Coast Hotel is one of those places where everything you might possibly need is available on the premises itself. Depending on the type of vacation you are having, you might not even need to leave the hotel grounds: there's a nice swimming pool with bar (serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between snacks), a little shop, tennis courts and a gym. If you are more of the active type (as I am), they have great bikes to use as well: Trek MTB's. Also, a rental car booth by Dollar is located in the lobby.

The standard rooms are big enough and have their private little balcony. No complaints about hygiene either: a large number of staff members are working all day long to keep the hotel in a very neat state. And they are very friendly on top.

The hotel is located right across the street from a fine little beach. There are some shops and fast food chains within walking distance, but for more fancy dining, you'd want to take the car. Or the bikes, if you want to work up an appetite...

We spent 5 nights at the Maui Coast Hotel from August 19th through the 24th and were very happy with our stay. The property is exactly what we were looking for: a nice hotel close to the beach with amenities to pamper ourselves a little after days exploring the island.

The hotel accommodated our early arrival on Monday, setting us up in the 1 bedroom suite room we'd booked. The room was clean, the linens new and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our 8 and 10 year old shared the pullout couch comfortably, and my wife and I really appreciated a room with a door we could close for some peace and quiet. The room was a good size and compared to other hotels on the island, an extremely good value. The pool area is comfortable and although not large, there was always room for us at the end of the day. The poolside cafe serves excellent food - we had a couple late dinners there poolside and appreciated the selection, quality and friendliness of the staff.

The beach is about a block and a half away and we visited it pretty much every day. It's an excellent swimming beach with lots of fantastic sand. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as grocery stores. Kihei is a great launching point for island exploration with perfect beach weather. The Maui Coast Hotel was just what we were looking for. I highly recommend it for families and couples looking for a great value, well-kept property with enough of a resort feel to pamper yourselves.

Room Tip: One bedroom suites are perfect for families with kids that want a little extra room.

Stayed here for five days this past week and found it lovely. Got an upgrade to the junior suite on the fifth floor, overlooking the condos next door ad a small glimpse of the ocean. Rooms were clean, modern and updated. Bed was fine. Shower pressure was so so, but loved the pumps of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Towels for the beach weren't rationed at all which was great. Bikes for 3 hrs at a time was a great perk. A farly central location from which to explore the island. It's a hotel, not a resort, despite the fee, so don't expect a giant pool or valet parking, but the price was fantastic for Maui and the proximity to wherever we wanted to go was good.

I spent 4 days/nights at the Maui Coast and it was the perfect place to discover West Maui from. The location is within walking distance to basic amenities, and has access to the beach close by. The resort's pool is a great meeting place and the staff are fantastic. Perfect for families, solo travelers and friends. W

Great rooms, bathrooms small but still nice.

We had an overall good experience at Maui Coast. It is a nice hotel with good facilities, close to the beach and not very far from restaurants. They even offer free bike rentals which make it easy to explore the town.

The only bad thing about Maui Coast is that they have the worlds slowest elevators and to make it worse only one elevator worked during our entire stay. It was much faster to take the stairs even though we lived on the 7th floor.
