We had an awesome time at Maui Coast, it was central to everything from shops, restaurants and
beaches. The staff are wonderful, helpful and always smiling...love the pool area that has live
music and a great bar, with fabulous bar staff! The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nicely decorated with everything you need, above all you feel like you are in an oasis and it's really quite!!! And forgot to mention they have great staff to see too all your activities including bicycles that are complimentary that you can ride around on. Would most definitely recommend this hotel!!!

We were really impressed with the Maui Coast Hotel. We were just looking for a base with a decent location and were impressed with the high quality of the hotel. We arrived early in the morning and were able to check in early. The room and bathroom was spacious, modern and very clean.

There are decent beaches within walking distance, although you do really need a car to explore the island.

There is a resort fee of around $17.50 a night but we had no problems with this as it was transparent from the start. I understand many hotels do it as a way of listing hotels cheaper but even factoring this into the price it's a cheap option still. Additional benefits included free wifi in the room, shuttle service to restaurants, beach and other hotels, as well as free bikes and access to tennis courts.

Location wise this was a good base to explore Maui from. Kihei is less picturesque then some other areas - strip malls and restaurants that don't shout anything from the outside. Although with the help of Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor you'll quickly learn not to judge a book by it's cover and see there are some great food options nearby. It also felt a bit more like the real Maui than some areas dominated by resorts.

If you want somewhere well-placed to explore the island from, that leaves you more money to spend on your trip, then this is perfect.

We had booked the hotel 2 months in advanced and asked for the best room and quiet, we were celebrating our anniversary.

I even called the week before to make sure we had a quiet room and let them KNOW we were celebrating our anniversary and they said they noted that.

When we arrived I wasn't impressed with the check in ,not super friendly. We asked if this was the best room available and they said yes.

The room was very clean and we were happy with it as we thought this was the best one they had.

The next morning we heard a infant crying for over an hour, we called the front desk and let them listen. We don't understand why they would put an infant next to an adjoining room and to guest who requested several times a quiet room. Of course the family can't help their little infant cries, that is what they do. But the hotel should make sure families with little infants are in a room that isn't adjoined so it helps both quests.

The front desk said they could MOVE US, so that is what we did.

They moved us to another room but it was across from a pool and the balconies of the other condo facing us. not very private if you like to sit on your balconly.

So, then the manager Rowena (very helpful manager) found a room with a peek a boo view, which was quiet and actually had a nice peek a boo view.

Which surprises me as they said the first room we had was the best, well it wasn't compared to this room.

The first room was okay (it over looked the parking lot A negative, but it's plus was it didn't have a building directly in front of you} but we didn't KNOW that there was a peek a boo view of the ocean on the other side of the hotel.

The PROS are it's very clean, great housecleaning and they are super helpful and polite

It offers a shuttle bus 3 miles either direction, drivers very nice

bell hops very nice and helpful

across from the beach

restaurants walking distance
comfortable beds

The CONS

no views on one side of the hotel

simple but clean, comparable to a Hampton Inn

not impressed with front desk help

That you have to ask for the peek a boo view, even though you stated you wanted the best room, they just say what you want to hear.

They will stick you where they want even if YOU ask for the best room, I find this just wrong, esp when YOU ASK, the room we got would of been available the next day after our arrival, they should of given US that OPTION .

not impressed( but it's a nice gester) with no up grades or champagne for us celebrating our anniversary as most hotels we go to do, in fact on the tripadvisor some guests mentioned they had champagne in their room and some got upgraded, so it must be a pick and choose from the front desk to whom to give it to

So make sure when you book YOUR ROOM , you have to ask for a peek a boo view , OR YOU won't get it.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a peek a boo view

Aloha Tanya! Again, I cannot stress how sorry I am about the challenges that you experienced while you were here on your first night. Thank you so much for being patient with us as we strived to find a room that was suitable for both you and your husband! At the Maui Coast Hotel, we value all of our guests and take pride in providing the best customer service levels possible. On occasion, if we fail, we also will make every reasonable effort to satisfy our guests. Mahalo for staying with us and we truly hope to be of service to you on your next visit to Maui!

We booked the Maui Coast at the suggestion of relatives who have a time-share next dooor. We were all there for a family wedding. The hotel is a 5 minute walk, (across the street), from one of the best, (though not secluded) beaches on Maui. The room was very comfortable. Housekeeping was good. The hotel had a pool/bar but we were too busy enjoying he island sights and our family next door to take advantage. The hotel staff were very " Aloha" in a sincere and genuine way. I wish the hotel had a coffee bar. That would allow early risers, like me, a chance to get a "cuppa" without disturbing our later sleeping travel companions. The pool cafe opens at 7am, (not soon enough?) Hotel parking is very tight, with narrow slots. This is a "pain" but manageable if you unload everyone/thing (except driver) before "berthing". (it helps to have a skinny driver.) I would go back to this hotel to meet family in the timeshare, but if that were not the case, I would want to explore a different part of the island, and a differnt hotel/resort.

Room Tip: The South Maui coast runs North/South. The hotel is oriented mostly east/west. There are not many "ocean views" on the first two or three floors. Perhaps better on floors 5 and above.
