“Perfect!”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

Start with the service: perfect -- staff was friendly, knowledgeable, affable, professional -- from the desk clerks/managers to the housekeeping staff -- wow. Okay -- Lobby: immaculate. Pool and grounds: immaculate and user friendly. Cafe: wonderful staff, food, ambiance and availability. Work out room: immaculate and great equipment and view. Rooms: immaculate, beds super comfy, a/c and ceiling fan in our one-bedroom, along with decent TV coverage/channels. Flat screens in both rooms. On site laundry and mountain bike usage (included in resort fee). Plenty of parking. Tennis courts. Walk across the street to the beach. Don't cross the street and find, eateries, shopping, snorkling/paddle board rentals and outings. All within walking distance. Free shuttle from the hotel to anyplace within 5 miles. Just call when you're ready to come back. Makena beach very close. Walk the other way and find a roller skate park, movie theatre, and more great restaurants. We had a blast. Short drive to Kahulu and other sea side towns. Great location. Loved this hotel.

Room Tip: If you can afford the one bedrooms, take one. However, there is very little view from this hotel, b...

Recently did a tour of three islands in Hawaii. Oahu, Maui and Kauai.

We stayed in the Maui Coast Hotel on Maui.

This hotel had good amenities and pool area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It had washing machines and dryers which were very useful. There is also a tour desk. There is a pool bar which is open for snacks and light meals.

It is in a slightly quieter area on Maui and if staying longer than 4 nights I would recommend the use of hiring a car. The hotel offerred a service whereby we would call reception to arrange someone to drive us anywhere within a 3 mile radius and we just had to telephone to be picked up again when we wanted. This was a very good service which we used a few times. This arrangement was from about 8am until about 9/9.30 pm. We took lifts to the local shops and Wailea Resort. This resort is within 3 miles which has an excellent shopping centre, grand hotels and a lovely beach with sunbeds and other amenities

There are some restaurants within walking distance of the Maui Coast Hotel as well as supermarkets and gift shops.

The local beach (5 minute walk) was nice but did not offer as many amenities i.e. sunbeds. We also went back to Waliea in the evening for a meal at Tommy Bahamas which was excellent - wonderful cocktails! and food.

If staying on Maui a MUST DO tour is the Road to Hana. We did it with Discover Hawaii Tours which was EXCELLENT. Our guide Dennis was really funny and informative. Thoroughally enjoyable day out.

Even with the $17 daily resort fee, this place is still a great find. The rooms are large (check the junior and deluxe suites), affordable and quiet. It's pretty much in the middle of Kehei, but you would not know it because the hotel is set back from the road and isolates you from the traffic. But many things are still in walking distance, including the beach across the street.
The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and will do whatever they can to ensure you are satisifed. You are treated as if you are at a 5-star hotel.
Just a few reasons why I give this place 4-stars and not 5:
1. The water pressure in the shower is a bit soft - mainly due to the shower heads they use.
2, Our balcony was right near the main air conditioning unit, so no point in sitting out there.

But other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel if you need a nice, clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay in Keihei.

Room Tip: x42 and x38 overlook the AC unit.

A friend and I decided to take our first trip to the islands by starting out on Hawaii and then hopping over to Maui and finally Oahu.

Of all the hotels we stayed at, this is the only one with a "mandatory resort fee" of $17.50 per day. They list such luxeries as self-parking and a coin-operated laundary as some of the perks....most of them free at the other hotels. Since we spent our entire visit out touring and snorkeling, none of this meant much to us.

The resort fee is a scam as far as we are concerned...just another way to extract revenue. If people want to use the exercise facilities and bikes they should pay for it. However, those not wishing to utilize these amenities should not be forced to pay. The location was great with lots of nearby sites and beaches.

The room was clean and comfortable, though small. The lanai was also microscopic. We ate at the pool cafe a couple of times and the food/ service was very good.

We feel (as does the guide book we used) that the resort fees are abominable. Include everything in your per night room charge and stop scamming. We arrived prepaid through a travel agent and were surprised upon checkin with this fee.

My second visit to Maui, I'd never ventured over to the Kihei area and was uncertain what to expect. I chose the Maui Coast Hotel based on reviews and photos. While a tad smaller than I thought in size and outlaying areas. The inside was wonderfully open and the room quite spacious, I had a suite room with a partial ocean view, but seriously when in Hawaii, who really stays in the room that long, during the day? I must say it was great to come back to a open space to sprawl out after a long day of touring. Close to everything as an ABC store was a block away, the beach right across the streeet, and plenty of restaurants to walk down the lane to either turning left or right. Good fun, while the hotel had a pool side bar and room service, I did not partake in that but one could, I'm sure. And while I've been reading other reviews across different hotels where folks are griping about service fees charged daily, I thought it great the hotel said up front what the fee was for at check in, inclusion of wi-fi, daily bottles of water, paper service, towels, and a wonderful bike service where one could take a bike away for the day or for however long to shop, sight see, etc, they also had a nice shuttle service one could arrange for as well if needed. Nice staff. Rooms had a minfridge, sink and microwave for small food prep if you wanted to. Good fun and the weather was awesome!

The hotel was nice and clean. We didn't spend a ton of time on the property as we were out site seeing and doing activities. There is a nice pool bar where you can relax in the evening. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach across the road in front of the hotel. They provide a shuttle which we used a couple times. Once four of us took it to the a luau about 5 mile away which was really nice since we all wanted to have some tropical beverages and enjoy ourselves. The shuttle was waiting for us when the luau was finished and took us right back to the hotel. Very convenient. We also used it for a ride to the convenience store and out to dinner another night. The driver is very friendly and helpful! The hotel concierge are very helpful and full of energy. We followed their recommendations and enjoyed all the activities they directed us to including the Te Au Moana Luau, snorkeling at Ka'anapali beach, The Road to Hana. Ask to borrow the CD that guides you along the sites along the road to Hana.
