My husband and I and our five month old baby just returned after staying 12 nights at the Mana Kai and our stay was amazing!!

This was our first time travelling with our baby so we did a lot of research searching for the perfect hotel for us! Last time we visited Maui we stayed in Kanapali and wanted to try Kihei for a change.

We wanted to stay at a hotel on the beach so that ruled out quite a lot of properties right away as many are across the street from the beach in Kihei. Having a baby with us, we knew we would be in our room more than not, so easy access from the beach was a must as well as a large ocean front balcony for those times we were stuck in our room while our baby slept.

We booked a standard 1 bedroom ocean view condo and were in room 302 A. Our room was on the third floor and the second over from the water and had the MOST incredible view!!!!! Pictures do not do the view justice, it is absolutely breathtaking!!! The view was so much better than our ocean front room view at the Hyatt Kanapali last year. The beach at the Mana Kai is one of the best we have ever seen with the most gorgeous sunsets! We loved the location, close enough to the shops in Kihei but away from the hustle bustle and located on the edge of beautiful Wailea!

Although we booked a standard room we found it to be clean and nicely decorated ( Hawaiian style) and the bed was soooo comfortable! Yes it was a bit dated but not so much where it bothered us, seriously who cares if you don't have granite countertops with those ridiculous views!!!! We also didn't mind that there was no air con, even with Maui being unseasonably warm ( 29-30 degrees Celsius everyday) if we kept the sliding balcony doors open and the fans on, there was more than enough breeze to keep us cool day and night.

We loved that there was a big lawn in front of the hotel with lawn chairs for guests! I also went to a few yoga classes which are held daily on site. My husband loved the snorkeling and every morning I went for a jog down the beach and back which took about 25 minutes. There is a boardwalk that starts at the Andaz and runs to the Fairmont which I also ran one day and back from the Mana Kai (took over an hour).

The hotel has a restaurant called The Five Palms which we ate at twice. Once for breakfast and once for half price happy hour and we thought the ambience and food was excellent! Our room was above the restaurant but we were never bothered by any noise.

Lastly all the staff were wonderful! From the front desk, to security and to our housecleaner Helena, everyone was super friendly, nice and hospitable.

We highly recommend the Mana Kai, we will definitely stay here again, thank you!!

Room Tip: Try and get a room closest to the ocean. For example third floor rooms start with 301 as the closest...

just returned. was there three nights. Maui was a little warmer and more humid than usual but you can never predict the weather. so for that reason i would caution you to make sure you are in one of the 14 units with a/c. our room on the 6th floor was stifling and was informed upon checkin that we did not have a/c. this was never mentioned when i booked. with sliders open, the door open over the door for a cross breeze and three fans running, it was STIFLING. very stressful because we were barely able to get the final a/c condo and if we could not have gotten it, it would have ruined our trip. so for another $40 a night...now up to $360 for an efficiency, we had no choice but to book. it starts getting pricey at this point. there were 3 of us so we fit in well with the king and sofa bed....but i noticed the Marriott had much better rates for 3 and a much more modern facility, without the ocean view...for future consideration. anyway, that being said there are things to like about mana kai maui. the ocean view from most or all rooms is lovely, the market on site is very convenient, the restaurant is decent though only had breakfast, the bar is ok...except for a lack of padding on the barstools where you kind of sink in to the bottom....the location near wailea and the lovely walkway along the beach is spectacular....so it worked out for us in the end. our room was more or less updated though a little dirty and the lobby is ugly circa 1970's. looks like the place needs a total remodel...but location and view bring in satisfied guests, nevertheless.

Room Tip: i think the a/ccondos are more updated. ours on the 6th floor was decent. our first non a/c room...

We stayed here to begin our honeymoon and could not have been more pleased! When we arrived, we had champagne and chocolates waiting for us in the room. The building is beautiful and the location can't be beat. The beach right behind the building is amazing, we even swam with a sea turtle while snorkeling there. The condo's are large and feel very home-ey. There's nothing like opening the screen doors to the lanai and falling asleep on the comfortable bed listening to the waves crashing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the employees at the activities desk can help answer questions about traveling around the island. We will definitely be returning ASAP :-)

We stayed there in off season, the hotel room was dated but the price reflected that, we had a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom room which was part of a bigger 2/2 unit. This place was very family friendly and had beach access. The staff was really helpful. If you are visiting Maui and are looking for reasonable, quiet location that is not too far from all the other parts of the island this is the place. FYI Sarento's restaurant right next to this hotel is worth trying. Little pricey but great food.

We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath premium room. There is a central door that unlocks to 2 other rooms, each with its own door and lock. The main room had a magnificent view of the ocean. You could sit on the lanai and just enjoy all the wonders of Hawaii--the beach, the paddle boarders, the snorkelers, kayakers, sunbathers, weddings, and sunsets, this room had the kitchen area and living area for both bedrooms. The bedroom here was separated by sliding panels from the rest of the condo and had a very nice bathroom with plenty of storage. The second bedroom area was more like a small hotel room with just a bed and a separate hotel-like bathroom. There was an air conditioner in this unit. This room butted to the outside corridor and could be a problem is there were noisy people;however, we were lucky in this respect. You really could not open thy drapes because of the privacy issue so if you were in this unit you could not enjoy the view from this room. Did not have an issue with cleanliness and our maid was quite pleasant. This property worked well for us. The view was worth it all. I was able to rent snorkeling and paddle board equipment next door and they have a nice restaurant on the premises. There is also a restaurant right next door on the beach that is also worthy of a visit.

This is the perfect location for a relaxing vacation in Maui. The unit has been upgraded with top of the line appliances cabinets and bathroom tiles. We had two bedrooms with King beds in both rooms. The kitchen was adequately stocked with what we needed. It was fairly clean but could certainly use a thorough clean including changing the shower curtain liners as they were getting mildewy. I was initially concerned there was no air conditioning in the beachside room (we were there in August) but the trade winds coming in off the ocean made for a very comfortable stay

With steps away from one of the best beaches in all of Maui it is a great location for families...no need to pack up and go to the beach! This is a great beach for kids as it does not drop off like some of the others. The pool and grass area loungers are for guests only and security frequents the area. With the Five Palms Restaurant in the Mana Kai and the even better Sorrentos right next door, you don't have to leave if you don't want to cook! They have a snack/grocery shop onsite as well as a place to rent everything from beach chairs to paddle boards. The Mana Kai is very south in Kihei bordering on Wailea so you are just minutes from some of the best resorts/restaurants in the area as well as a couple minute drive from the Shops of Wailea.

We never had an issue booking the BBQ area and would sit poolside to eat our meal when we did not feel like dining out. The sunset view is beautiful and you will most likely see a wedding or two take place at sunset because of the great view. We stayed here for two weeks and absolutely loved it. We received great value for our money!

Room Tip: You will get better rates if you book through an owner rather than the ManKai which does book out th...

We had the economy room with a King bed and full bath, no balcony. The access to the beach is approx. 50 feet from the lobbly, immaculate grounds and hotel. The room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Friendly staff, Terry was great. The room was small but it had all the basics, small refrigerator and microwave, with a good A/C. The size of the room was not a problem because most of the day was spent on the beach or sight seeing. There was a problem with the TV and curtins. The TV was extremely small (17"). Hard to see after a long day. Also, the curtins was so sheer that at 6am the sunlight came through every morning, entirely too early while on vacation. Could not sleep in. One other problem was a rooster that was crowing between 5 and 5:30 am; 4 of the 6 morings and we were on the 8th floor! The staff told us that they have no control of the wildlife. Most of the Kihei shops are a short distance away.
