My husband and I and our five month old baby just returned after staying 12 nights at the Mana Kai and our stay was amazing!!
This was our first time travelling with our baby so we did a lot of research searching for the perfect hotel for us! Last time we visited Maui we stayed in Kanapali and wanted to try Kihei for a change.
We wanted to stay at a hotel on the beach so that ruled out quite a lot of properties right away as many are across the street from the beach in Kihei. Having a baby with us, we knew we would be in our room more than not, so easy access from the beach was a must as well as a large ocean front balcony for those times we were stuck in our room while our baby slept.
We booked a standard 1 bedroom ocean view condo and were in room 302 A. Our room was on the third floor and the second over from the water and had the MOST incredible view!!!!! Pictures do not do the view justice, it is absolutely breathtaking!!! The view was so much better than our ocean front room view at the Hyatt Kanapali last year. The beach at the Mana Kai is one of the best we have ever seen with the most gorgeous sunsets! We loved the location, close enough to the shops in Kihei but away from the hustle bustle and located on the edge of beautiful Wailea!
Although we booked a standard room we found it to be clean and nicely decorated ( Hawaiian style) and the bed was soooo comfortable! Yes it was a bit dated but not so much where it bothered us, seriously who cares if you don't have granite countertops with those ridiculous views!!!! We also didn't mind that there was no air con, even with Maui being unseasonably warm ( 29-30 degrees Celsius everyday) if we kept the sliding balcony doors open and the fans on, there was more than enough breeze to keep us cool day and night.
We loved that there was a big lawn in front of the hotel with lawn chairs for guests! I also went to a few yoga classes which are held daily on site. My husband loved the snorkeling and every morning I went for a jog down the beach and back which took about 25 minutes. There is a boardwalk that starts at the Andaz and runs to the Fairmont which I also ran one day and back from the Mana Kai (took over an hour).
The hotel has a restaurant called The Five Palms which we ate at twice. Once for breakfast and once for half price happy hour and we thought the ambience and food was excellent! Our room was above the restaurant but we were never bothered by any noise.
Lastly all the staff were wonderful! From the front desk, to security and to our housecleaner Helena, everyone was super friendly, nice and hospitable.
We highly recommend the Mana Kai, we will definitely stay here again, thank you!!
