“must try in Maui!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Tasaka Guri Guri is hidden inside the Maui Mall in Kahului-- not too far from the airport. The mall itself is small and one story. It is located straight down from Baskin Robbins at the other end of the mall. One must try the famous Guri Guri- Maui version of a mixture of sherbet and ice cream. There is only one flavor available, but you can't go wrong with it-- combination of pineapple and guava flavor. It is light like sherbet and not filling like ice cream.

They serve it in a paper cup by the scoop-- 2 scoops for $1.20, 3 scoops for $1.80, 4 scoops for $2.35, and 5 scoops at $2.85. Five scoops may sound a lot but it really is not. Line is frequently forming from the outside as it is quite popular with both locals and tourists. An alternative to the shave ice. Definitely worth a detour to sample this. We make it a point to visit Tasaka Guri Guri every time we are in Maui. Check their hours out before going as it is limited during the weekends. Don't be disappointed.

“One of a kind”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

I grew up on Maui, so I have to get guri guri every time I go back to visit. They have 2 flavors - pineapple and strawberry. It is still a family owned business and the guri guri recipe is a family secret. Go ahead and get 1 scoop of each and see if you like it...it's cheap and refreshing! Don't be discouraged if you see a 'long' line, because it will move really quickly. Bring cash because they won't accept credit cards.

“If you are in Maui, you should stop by....”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Tasaka Guri Guri's shop is located in a rather quiet mall, Maui Mall which is very close by to the Kahului Airport. The primary reason people come here is to try the famous Guri Guri dessert-- which only one flavor-- a mixture of guava, pineapple sherbet type of dessert served in a paper cup. It is sold by the scoop-- a definite local favorite. Very good taste to it and one needs to try it for themselves. There is usually a line forming outside the shop but the line moves very quickly. Well worth the stop over for a few minutes before heading back /from the airport.

“Guri was OK”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

One of the locals on Oahu to told to go to GuriGuri when we were on Maui. First of all, he told us there were free samples and there were NOT! Second, I didn't think it was all that great. Kinda tasted like sherbet. Only 2 flavors to choose from. There was a long line and they were very busy. Next time, I'll stick with Hawaiian shaved ice - I liked it better!

“New taste”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The tour guide feature on my GPS kept talking about the Tasaka Guri Guri every time our car passed near the area it was in, so I was determined to try some before we left Maui. It was described as a cross between ice cream, sherbet and yogurt. I guess that is what it tasted like - it has a strange consistency. Guri Guri only comes in two flavors- pineapple and strawberry. The pineapple was far better than the strawberry. I don't think it is something I would want again, but glad I had the experience.
