Our adventure was one of the best things our family has done together. It was raining when we got to the summit so the rain/wind gear that they give you was a necessity. Owen, our tour guide, told us our chances were 50/50 of seeing the sunrise due to the weather but luck was on our side and it was beautiful. You're so pumped from experiencing this and then you realize the adventure is only half over. The descent down was a blast. Owen was so funny and he gave us so much history. Starting at 10,000 ft and ending at a beach was amazing. We highly recommend Owen and Jen and mountain riders. Waking up at 1:00 for an almost 12 hour excursion should have meant major complaining from my 15 and 13 year old, but not a peep. If Owen and Jen can make that happen, that's proof enough.

Our adventure started off with the driver, Sue picking is up late after we were told to be ready at 2 am. We were given forms to fill out on the way and a flashlight to fill them out. Once we were done we were told to pass them up front and Sue proceeds to tea them to make sure we signed them while driving. Maybe a safety issue? Perhaps sending forms via email the day before he trip so we could hand her completed forms would be better.
Lucas our leader was very good although some people were having difficulty keeping up and there was no communication between Sue and Lucas due to malfunctioning radios.
The ride itself was fun- very glad we went. The bikes are ok although there was a problem with the brake on the first bike my husband rode - Lucas did swap this bike for him.

We would do this again but hope some of our concerns are addressed

Pick up was super rude, driver sue was very rude, acted like she was doing us a favor to take us out, made the whole trip sour from the start!

All they want us your money. No concern for safety, no bike checks, just sign a waiver with flashlight in the dark Umm ok.

Only good thing was bike leader Lucas. With him I at least tried it, but after our breakfast stop decided to get a taxi and jump ship. Would have walked out actually.

Last straw was more rude angry comments from driver Sue about where I work and about being a mother. Complete crap.

Also a biker had a wheel issue, but they said hey go ahead we will just watch it, unsafe! And their walkie talkies didn't work so following driver sue could not tell our leader when we should pull over to let cars through. Red car almost him a lady in front of me! But did Sue care, no! Sirens also passed us going up the hill, probably another tour accident.

Don't go! And never take children!

We booked the day tour, we met the van at the KMart, they were right on time.

Gave us some pastries and coffee before heading up, congrats to Owen and Kim, very enjoyable experience, my wife and my son are not experienced bikers but had a great time.

Only thing missing which I think would be important.....pictures !, there is only one stop on the way up and one on the way down, we would have liked some more pic in our full biker attire, other than that...everything was very good and we jighly recommend it.

The staff at Mountain Riders did a great job at creating great memories and providing information! This is so worth taking the time to see! FYI...it is SO COLD! the top of the volcano is ten thousand feet high and you lose 3 degrees for every thousand feet, so...at about 4am that means its gonna be around 35-45 degrees with a very strong wind! If you go without a guide, go very early and bring several wind proof layers and gloves! I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND GOING WITH THIS COMPANY...a lot of fun!
