Great restaurant. A little hard to find BUT WORTH IT. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. There were a lot of locals there (always a good sign). The Loco Moco is to die for and big enough to share. Overall one of the best meals we had on Maui.

We were starving after our scary hopper plane flight from Oahu and found this place by the airport. The waitstaff here were all super friendly and the food was delicious. We got the Hawaiian platter or something and loved all of it, especially the chicken long-rice and the Kahlua pork. Everyone recommended the fried musubi, but we thought it had too much rice.

We thought the Aloha spirit resonated throughout all the islands but hate to say it, this was probably our best meal in Maui; all our meals were down-hill after that, from service to quality (we ate at some expensive and highly-rated places).

If/when we ever go back to Maui, we'll definitely be back to Da Kitchen

After traveling on a long flight, my family was starved and longing for some local style food. Da Kitchen was right by the airport and provided ono (delicious) grinds(Food), large portions, at a reasonable price. A must try!!

A local introduced me to Da Kitchen in Kahului (there is also one in Kihei, which I have not tried, this review is only for the one in Kahului, close to the airport) in the fall of 2008. We go there every time we set foot on Maui ever since. The setting is rustic but fun - surfer dude kinds of stuff on the walls. The lines out the door are long if you happen to go during lunch hour. The clientele seems to be nearly exclusively locals, not tourists (one of the appeals to us. I hope I am not ruining that with this review :-) ). The food is truly authentic local food - items you've never heard of - and the portions are gigantic. For ex, the Fish and Chips (Mahi Mahi, of course) is composed of 3 slabs of Mahi, each the size that would make one entire portion at another place. Our routine has become to go there for lunch right off the plane from California - it;'s about 5 minutes from the airport and close to the local Costco where we then stack up on supplies for the week vacation condo, not hotel stays). Food is not cheap in Maui, but Da Kitchen's huge portions are very reasonably priced.
