We recently stayed at the Maui Seaside for 8 nights. We selected the hotel based on a stopover we had in Maui a few years ago. We liked the look from the beach. We were right on our hunch... It's a well run business...staff everywhere keeping it clean. Front desk staff always willing to help you. All maintenance people, housekeeping staff, etc. very friendly. If you're expecting a resort atmosphere with a bar by the pool, this is not the place to come to. The pool opens at 9am and closes at 6pm. It means that those rooms overlooking the pool have some quiet time which is a good thing. Our room was away from the pool area and was also quiet and clean. New carpets had just been laid in all the rooms on the second floor of the "tower". There is always someone tidying, cleaning, upgrading, around the premises. From Maui Seaside's central (and great) location, you can get to the mall easily by walking or rent a car and travel around the island. The rooms that are just booked for a stop over and are the cheapest rooms are very small. We paid extra and got a deluxe room which was very roomy. The price included breakfast each day at the adjoining Tante's restaurant. The meals were generous portions and tasty. The staff at Tante's are super friendly and attentive.

Room Tip: We got a deluxe room in the "tower", it had a bit of a view of the water and the park. Just ask for a quiet room and the staff will make sure you get something nice. If you ever hear noisy guests after 11pm, just call the front desk and they will deal with it immediately.

I thought the rooms were fine! May be dated, but they were in great shape and super clean, we're not talking bugs or bullet holes here. For gosh sakes, do you need granite tops and the newest headboard? I have looked thru VRBO, if you are not staying a week, it is really hard to get an "up-to-date" place. We had the mid-price room, called the garden room. There was a small stretch of grass, the sidewalk and our balcony/patio with 2 chairs and table. And a palm tree. Step out the door and there was a great view of the bay. There was a flat screen attached to the wall, but larger is always nicer. You had to go on the street to get to neighboring beach, But it was very close. Pool is nice, clean. Okay, no bar guy. Rooms are incredibly clean, folks are more than helpful. Bed was clean and comfy. I had a kama'aina rate of $109. It is so centrally located you could take day trips from here and stay your whole time at this spot. But if you want to stay in one location, have more than one pool to pick from and a guy or girl to bring you drinks, then spend the extra $200+ a night.

Room Tip: Poolside is always good, and closer to bayfront

This place is the best place to stay! The smiles and friendliness of the ladies is unsurpassed. They are always willing to help and they always wear a bright smile. The ladies do their best to help out at all times.

Room Tip: Always choose a room with a view of the ocean and pool.

Everything is great about this hotel except for the rooms. We got into Maui at 7:00 pm which was 2:00 am our time and were exhausted. Even though we knew we were just renting a room for one night to crash in, it was pretty bad. We both said that if we had to stay here for our vacation we would cry. We paid $ 150 plus tax and $ 5 parking for their highest room category which included breakfast.

The staff could not be nicer. The pool and area around it looked great. The restaurant was very nice and the breakfast and service there were excellent! Good parking.

The rooms, even our top tier room, were awful. They are so dated. The bed was o.k. comfortable and we didn't notice any noise which was nice after a full day of travel. The rooms are just so dated, like a hotel that hasn't been updated in 40 years. Very depressing but o.k. for one night after our long flight to Maui before heading to a nice accommodation. We ended up paying $ 145 a night for a beachfront condo in Lahaina through VRBO which went for twice that at the hotel itself. A lot of people stay at this Maui Seaside hotel because it's "cheap" but you can get waaaaay better for the same money if you search private owners on VRBO.

We would never stay here again, even for one night unless we had no choice. It's sad because everything about the place is amazing except for the terrible rooms. They would be $ 50 anywhere in Canada or mainland USA.
