Went to Sunshine Helicopters on Maui in January of 2011. After check-in a employee offered water and restroom. While standing at the toilet I saw a cell phone behind a trash can propped up against the wall at a angle pointing at privates. Picked it up and the video was on. Came out and gave it to the guy behind the desk and told him. He denied that his employee would do this. The employee grabbed his phone and took off not to be seen again. Got money back from the Pleasent activity company and left a phone message on the owner of Sunshine's phone. Six days later, got a call from the same guy behind the desk. Not the owner. I am still trying to contact the owner at this time. I think he should at least hear both sides of the story. Not after anything. Just don't want this to happen to YOU!

I'd have to say my experiece was fair at best. The service and experience from when you showed up until you got off the plane was more assembly line feeling and not one of creating a real experience for you. They weighed us, collected our money, gave us the briefing, and put us on the helicopter. Waiting in the small lobby we just sat and listened to the two employees chat about what they did the night before rather than interact with us.

The pilot was nice, but didn't really share much information about what we were seeing. There were many things I wondered about, but we didnt' have two way headsets either so we couldn't ask him.

The flight was supposed to circle the north and south sections of the island. We did the south section, but went through one valley inthe north section and flew back. We didn't cover a majority of the north sections over Lahaina, etc which I wanted to see, but again had no way to ask him about. The flight lasted about an hour as promised, but we didn't get to cover as much ground as showed in the brochure.

I wouldn't go back again. The company does not seem to be customer focused or really striving to provide an overall excellent experience, but they are happy to sell you a DVD for $50 of your flight.

I want to say that Sunshine tours was fabulous. Our pilot, Jed, born and raised in Kauai was very professional and made us feel completely at ease. My husband and I were fortunate to be able to sit up front and enjoyed that he was so competent. I especially felt good visibly seeing that he was so calm. I felt super confident and would not hesitate to recommend this outfit to friends and loved ones. the ride and view were spectacular!

Great people with great service. Helicopter and all facilities were in great shape, very comfortable. Host (Steve the Pilot) is perfect. Extremely knowledgeable about the history of the islands and careful to match helicopter motion to guests comfort level. Must see and do!

Went in the early afternoon on September 12, 2009.

Showed up at the appointed time for the tour, was greeted by the receptionist & directed to the check-in area. All helicopters need to be weight balanced so the first order of business was a weigh-in. Handled very discretely as the scale was sticking out from underneath the counter with the screen obscured on the other side, weights recorded without comment for all passengers.

I rode with a family of 5 as the 6th passenger. We were informed that weather had the East Maui rain forest & Haleakela Crater socked in so were give the option to reschedule, get a full refund or switch to a Molokai/West Maui flight. All opted for the Molokai tour.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Molokai/ West Maui flight. Beginning with the north shore of west Maui & Kahakaloa then crossing the channel to the east side of Molokai. The sea cliffs on the north shore of Molokai are spectacular and virtually the only way to see them is from helicopter (or boat, but no one schedules that due to the unpredictable sea state). These are the tallest sea cliffs on earth at 3000 ft+, are very green and full of waterfalls, one of which was 1800 ft tall! Deep valleys, reef and rugged terrain make this a gem of a flight. Turned around just east of Kalaupapa and viewed the reef & fishponds on the south shore of Molokai before heading back across the channel.

The return to Maui gave us a full circle rainbow against the ocean and a panorama of the resorts from Kapalua to Lahaina town, then around the south side to see the reef system at Olawalu and more rainbows in the valleys at Olawalu & Ukumehame gulches, then over the windmills and across the valley back to the heliport.

Very smooth & comfortable ride. Great outfit.
