Owner description: Aloha and welcome to Mauis Garden Of Eden Arboretum. An Arboretum is a park dedicated to trees. We also feature hundreds of lowland rainforest species of flowers, shrubs, and ground covers as well.We began this project in1991 with 30 acres of densely overgrown jungle, now after investing more than 20yrs of physical labor and 2 million dollars, we have created one of Hawaii's most visited botanical gardens. We have many plants found nowhere else or are uncommon to Hawaii, such as rare Amazon fruits and medicinal species, endangered hardwoods, spice, exotic nut trees, ferns and so much more...A botanical Disneyland with over 2 miles of maintained graveled walking trails...A truly educational facility with over 700 plants botanically labeled. Try to allow at least 45 minutes to explore. We feature great views and photo opportunities but no direct access to the waterfall or pools. If you are only interested in restrooms (we now have improved facilities) You can do so for free 2 miles down the road.A portion of your entry fee is donated to the nature conservatory. The cost to keep our gate open averages $1,000/dy so we sincerely thank you for your support,,,especially those who have contributed beyond our entry fee. Most botanical gardens have teams of volunteers and use chemicals to curb costs. Our entire staff are well paid professionals, and we are almost entirely a chemical free park. Thank you for visiting, we do take your comments to heart

“Lovely stop on the road to Hana!!”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

This was a great stop along the road to Hana. It's a very large, beautifully maintained garden with walking trails and waterfalls. There are so many different species of plants, fruits, etc, and they have them all labelled and some have information written out about them. We found the walk around the garden very peaceful and serene, and got to see some things we've never seen before! There's a fee to get in, but it was worth it. If you're hungry on the way out, they also have food for sale! Highly recommend stopping here!

“Fun to see Keopuka Rock ”
Reviewed August 2, 2014 via mobile

For those of you that are Jurassic Park fans, it's fun to hike up to the Keopuka Rock overlook (featured when they fly into the island). It's a beautiful place for hiking around, and yes, you have to pay for admission. However, if you don't vacation here regularly then it's worth the little bit of cash to experience the garden.

As a note: others have mentioned the free hikes to waterfalls on the Road to Hana, but you have to pull off in the side of the road if there is room. Otherwise you just have to enjoy the view and drive on. So, I would recommend stopping if you want to enjoy a peaceful hike with gorgeous views and plenty of parking space!

“Waste of money”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

I love gardens and flowers so we decided to stop. There was a $15 per person fee to get in. When they at telling you what's in the garden at the entrance (were you decide to pay our skip going in) they make it sound a LOT cooler than it really is. Save your money. You can see much better for free on one of the other hikes and much better water falls that you can actually hike to and swim in instead of view from a mile away. Not only do I feel like we wasted our money but we waisted 45 min that could have been used somewhere MUCH cooler on the road to Hana!

“Stunning views”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

Beautiful stop on the Road to Hana. Great spots to stop and enjoy the lush scenery and unique foliage. It was $15 per person to get in, which was a little steep to just walk around but there were amazing views.

“Why the negativity? Garden of Eden lives up to its name.”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Maui's Garden of Eden along the Road to Hana is a beautiful arboretum. The only case I can see being made for not stopping, aside from the admission fee, is simply that there's so much other stuff to do along the Road to Hana. The views of the waterfalls aren't great, but I really liked the view of the rock from the opening scene of Jurassic Park.
