Take it slow. Wonderful warm welcome. One of only two places in town to get a drink, so the next table may have a movie star (whom no one will bother) and the table on the other side may be a local fisherman taking his wife out to dinner. Don't be surprised if your waiter is asked to dance a hula after he serves you your drink. Live singer three times a week.

Be sure to visit the bar on Thursday night when there's live music and wonderful local ladies who are seriously good dancers. Real local hula and music. Other than that the food is way too expensive and the service is slow. Although I had a New York steak grass fed that was priced just about right at $40. There's not much to do in Hana so be sure to visit.

The Paniolo Lounge has gone downhill under the new Traavasa ownership, and you can't get "bar food" dinner here after 5:30 p.m.; it's the same menu as the overpriced and underwhelming restaurant, just no dress code. But we loved our server, and the live music and hula on Thursday night is 5 star. Go just for that.

We arrived around 5:00 pm, hoping for a happy hour type menu. Instead, they offer a special "lunch" menu from 5 to 6:30. It is very limited and expensive for the amount/quality of food. We had the Poke-Tini (poke served in a martini glass) and we honestly felt the Wasabi Poke we purchased the day before at Foodland in Kihei was superior. Our drinks were tasty, but there were no specials, and again, they were quite expensive. We did enjoy the live music and the atmosphere.

Food was ok...very pricey and nothing to write home about. The problem is that there aren't a lot of choices for breakfast or dinner in Hana. You may be forced to pay these high prices if you are hungry. Atmosphere is very nice, although their chairs are uncomfortable and the service is a little slow and not very attentive. The tomato and hearts of palm salad was ridiculous...one piece of romaine lettuce cut into smaller pieces, two baby cherry tomatoes cut in half, and 5 or 6 tiny cubes, smaller than dice of hearts of palm. It looked liked something you would give to a baby eating solid food for the first time. My chicken was so bland and dry that it would get stuck in my throat when I swallowed. Everything is alla carte... you get nothing with your entree. Save your money and eat at Spago in Wailea at The Four Seasons Hotel. You will have the most memorable and incredible meal that truly is worth every penny! Sorry, but this restaurant was a disappointment.
