“Perfect place for our family!”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

What can I say about Hale Nanea that hasn’t been said in the other reviews? It was wonderful! I needed to find affordable lodging for our family’s 4 day trip to Hana. Wendy and Otto provided the perfect place and showed us what the spirit of Aloha really is! Hale Nanea, with its 2 bedrooms, was perfect for our family. After staying in a 1 bedroom condo on the west side of Maui for a week, our 3 year old daughter was thrilled to have her very own bedroom. We loved it too since after she went to bed we could stay up in the living room or sit out on the lanai and watch the moon rise over the ocean. The cottage is on a large lot and there is a huge lawn so our daughter also had plenty of room to run around. The fruit, banana bread and flowers that greeted our arrival were wonderful and Otto gave us a tour of the adjacent gardens and showed us what we could pick to use in our cooking while we were there. We marinated chicken in fresh lime and lilikoi juices and cooked it on the gas grill. So yummy! These owners have thought of every detail. There were even plastic pails and shovels that my daughter was able to use at the beach. Everything about this cottage was perfect and we are already planning a return trip to this paradise. We had an exceptional experience and highly recommend Hana Paradise Cottages.

We made one major mistake when we stayed here - we only stayed one night. It was beautiful, clean, comfortable, fully-equipped (not time-share equipped, really equipped!) and in the most wonderful setting. We could even hear the waves. We loved the fruit and banana bread. Can't wait to go back and will definitely stay more than one night. Appropriately named Paradise!

For our visit to the islands this time around, we wanted to spend more time in Hana. We always search for island style accommodations that are reasonably priced. Hale Nanea met and exceeded those expectations from the lava rock walled entry and plumeria lined driveway to the well stocked household, comfortable furniture, and beautiful Hawaiian quilts in the bedrooms. The Internet photos don't do this place justice. There was an ocean view, as promised, and wonderful spacious grounds to enjoy. We liked the location, less than 5 minutes back to town, 5 minutes to Hamoa Beach. I priced several other houses in the area and Hale Nanea was a good value. As a couple, we didn’t need two bedrooms, but it was great to have the extra space. We were very comfortable there and would rent this house again. Wendy and Otto Horen were great to work with and the banana bread was the best. No need to buy any on the way there.

Do you want to experience true Hawaii? Not into phony baloney resorts with plastic water slides and loud, obnoxious tourists? Want true peace, quiet, and serenity in a top of the line bungalow? Bamboo Cottage is for you. Hubby and I just spent three days there and wished that it was three weeks. The website pics don't lie---this cottage is beautiful from ceiling to floor. We've stayed at many places---from Hotel Hana Maui on down, but the Bamboo Cottage is where we will return again and again. Super clean, fresh, and fully equipped. Granite countertops in kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful tile finishes. Flowers, fruit, and banana bread. I could go on and on.... Hana is paradise. You can find many things to do, or you can kick back and just enjoy the ocean breezes, flora, and fauna. Wendy and Otto (owners): Mahalo nui nui and we'll be back next year!

We finished our trip to Maui with three luxurious nights at the Bamboo Cottage in Hana. If we were to do it again (and we will) it would have been all 15 nights in Hana. Every word of ever review is absolutly true. The cottage is more like a privite studio on beautiful estate. The grounds are wonderful, I picked fresh herbs from a little garden just outside the cottage for creating wonderful dinners. The kitchen rivaled mine at home! Wendy and Otto were such gracious hosts, directing us to lovely experiences that you don't find in any guide. We will definately be returning, I just hope we can get on the calendar before they are all sold out!!!!

we absolutely loved our stay at the bamboo cottage. what a perfect way to end our vacation in maui! we spent the last three days at the hana paradise cottages and couldn't have picked a better place! the location was perfect..minutes away from the gorgeous hamoa beach. the facilities were perfect..we grilled every night for dinner and it worked perfect. eating out on the lanai was so relaxing listening to the birds and hearing the surf in the distance. we loved how peaceful it was. the bed was so comfortable, the shower nice and hot, the cottage impeccably clean. i appreciated the decor and the tiny details that made it a very luxurious cottage to stay in. thanks to otto and wendy for a fantastic stay! we will highly recommend it to anyone heading to hana!
