Celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Maui, as we met in high school on Oahu in the 1960's, but have lived on the mainland since then.
After spending a week on the Lahaina side in the part of Hawaii custom built for tourists and interchangeable resorts, we chose to spend a week in Hana, a more rural and remote part of Maui.
After traveling to every corner of the world for work and pleasure over many decades, we found THE place to escape the hustle, and enjoy a part of Hawaii that gets smaller every year.
This is not for everyone. If you need glitz, TV's, and suffer from ADD, don't go. But if you want to relax in true Hawaiian style, surrounded by remarkable scenery, and meet some wonderful home grown Kamaaina's, then go to Travaasa.
The facility is quiet and superbly attended. Management and staff are as friendly, helpful, professional, and genuinely happy to see you as any that we have experienced anywhere.
Restaurant, spa, facilities all very good.
Plenty to do, especially if you are adventurous, alone or with groups. Or do what we did for a few days.....nothing. Felt GREAT!!!!
We'll be back.
