The park has great picnic and bathroom facilities! The black sand and rock beach is beautiful! Great swimming. We didn't see much as far as snorkeling, but it was a great beach!

We loved this park. We explored the lava caves, went for a fresh water dip in one of the caves, swam in the ocean at the black sand beach and watched the blow holes. This is a beautiful spot!

Waiʻanapanapa State Park along the way on the Road to Hana is well worth stopping. At this park you can have a picnic lunch, see and/or play on a black sand beach, walk through a short lava tunnel, view a sea arch, view and get up close to a blow hole (and have your picture taken with the water gushing up behind you), and just enjoy the beautiful vistas. It is a highlight on the Road to Hana. There is no charge to enter the park. Just enjoy a couple hours of playing and viewing beautiful scenery.

The road to Hana is long, slow, and can be nauseating without Dramamine. But it is beautiful and worth it. Lots of fun stands to stop at and this amazing black sand beach!!!

The black sand beach is very neat, and if you hike off to the side you can see a sea arch as well as some other good views. Recommend stopping here on the road to Hana, just know that so is everyone else (lots of tour buses when we stopped here).
