Relax. This is all about relaxing. Bev and David are the perfect hosts. They provide the peace and serenity and yet anticipate every need. Their place in the hills (just a mile up hill from the ocean) is so beautiful. Spotlessly clean, meticulously appointed, and with views of the mountain and the Ocean is is hard to imagine any place better on this earth. This was our third trip to Bev and David's. The first trip to Maui was to the Four Seasons. Yes, the Four seasons is nice, but can you really relax when you are paying those rates? We will return for a fourth, fifth, sixth, and so on adinfintum

We have stayed in the Tradewinds Suite many times and each visit is like returning home. From spending quiet nights in the beautiful spa gazing at the Milky Way, Pleiades galaxy or shooting stars to the endless vistas up to Haleakala. It's a special treat to shower in the private outdoor shower or read a book in a hammock made for two. Everything is kept in immaculate condition from the inside to the beautiful private tropical grounds. David and Bev have become cherished friends over our many visits to Maui Tradewinds. There are many choices of where to stay in the Islands but Maui Tradewinds is No Ka Oi (The Best).

The peaceful tropical location, the open spacious accommodations (including a seemingly endless balcony porch) Bev and David's constant yet non intrusive attention, the stunning vistas of Haliakela and the west mountains, the sense of outdoors blending with indoors, overflowing frutibowls and breakfast foods, more household items and beach supplies than you could ever use, understated interior decoration enhancing the natural hillside location and flora-these are all unforgettable components of the Maui Tradewinds experience - and yet they were only the immediate pleasures that we encountered .

A stay here eases one into the mystical Hawaii still possible to experience in this region of understated living. Hot tub-bing under the stars, never ever closing doors or windows to the scented cleansing fresh Hawaiian air, dining on the freshest starfruit imaginable awaken your senses.

A short turn to the right and you are on the road to Hana and its hidden waterfront treasures, a short turn to the left and you cruise by the surfswept coast to engagingly funky Pa'ia, turn the other way and climb upcountry to paniolo history in Makawao and jawdropping vistas in Kula. Take not much longer rides and bask in sun and beach at Wailea or Makena or the west coast.

But most of all after even a few days you abandon agendas, you give yourself up to the moment- and you realize your entire Maui Tradewinds experience is refreshing and invigorating and indeed healing. The particulars are unforgettable but the overall experience is far more memorable than the sum of all its parts.

Vacationing at Maui Tradewinds is that special occasion when you can no longer be sure- did we come to Maui Tradewinds to visit Hawaii or did we travel to Hawaii to visit Maui Tradewinds.

Room Tip: We stayed in the guest house which is capacious, All the rooms give access to the balcony, hot tub...

We stayed in the Tradewinds Suite for only 3 nights in late September, and wish it could have been longer. Bev greeted us (first time in Hawaii) with a wealth of information that was put to good use. We chose to use the hot tub and barbecue, as the site is conducive to remaining at the B&B overlooking stunning views while sipping wine. Visitors should know that this site is a little off the beaten track, but there are rewards for its location. Others have written about the fact that this is not a traditional B&B (not a cooked breakfast due to Hawaiian restaurant regulations), so we were prepared to pick up items from the grocery. Bev has everything that you need for kitchen, barbecue, and laundry, making the rest of our trip that much more enjoyable leaving with everything clean! The Suite is very private - never heard or saw anyone unless we wanted to.

After seeing the top rating and reading consistently excellent reviews, we decided to start our Hawaii vacation at Maui Tradewinds. We were not disappointed in any way. Beautiful scenic location, peaceful, private yet close to everything we wanted to do on Maui. The hosts Bev and David fully respect your privacy yet were always available to provide information or advice when we requested. Some of our best times involved relaxing and appreciating the scenery - something we typically don't do (yes, David, we are working on this). We made daily trips to watch surfers, windsurfers and sea turtles at Ho'okipa Lookout on our way to Mana Foods. More typical tourist activities in Lahaina were an easy drive from Maui Tradewinds. When Bev and David say you can "pack light", believe them as they think of pretty much everything. For making our first stop on our first trip to Maui as well as our first experience at a B&B top notch, Thanks Bev and David!

We feel so lucky that we found Maui Tradewinds! When my husband and I were going to go to Maui for the first time I looked at Trip Advisor for suggestions for where to stay. When I found the cottage at Maui Tradewinds it seemed like the right place for us, and it certainly was. This place is magic! The cottage is bright and airy and very comfortable and private. The deck offers a wonderful sweeping view across a lovely valley. In the morning the sun lights up the beautiful green hillside and you wake up to birdsong, which is pretty much the only sounds you will hear when you are at the cottage. In the evenings you can sit on the deck and watch as the sun sets over the ocean, and when it gets dark you have your own private hot tub with the Milky Way right overhead! It is an easy drive to anywhere else you may want to go on the island. Beverly and David are extremely gracious hosts. We had a fantastic vacation. If we were able to stay there all the time, I would want to keep this place a secret, but as that is alas not possible, it seems only fair to let others know about it. You will not regret staying there! We certainly hope we can get back there soon!!!

Tucked in the mountains away from crowds is a peaceful place of paradise. Minutes away from the beach and the Hana highway while sitting above the village of Haiku. It is a short distance to Upcountry including Haleakala National Park and Poli Poli State Park or the fun and energetic town of Paia. (Mama's Fish house, the most amazing restaurant in Maui is in Paia!)
Perfectly centered on the island its only an hour drive to Lahaina, and about the same to Hana. (little longer to Hana due to winding roads)
Maui Tradewinds provides a great place to return home to after daily excursions. A well equipped kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals to enjoy on your personal Lanai which we did often. Bev and David provide fresh fruits from their gardens along with breads and cereals. Ask for directions to the local Saturday swap meet to pack up on fresh local vegetables at excellent prices.
We enjoyed using the outdoor shower in the mornings and soaking in the hot tub gazing at the most amazing star lit sky at night!
While celebrating our anniversary we wanted a place to play but a place to rejuvenate. Maui Tradewinds provided just as we had hoped. Designed and cultivated by a couple who have the most compassionate hearts, we found Maui Tradewinds to be a serene place to spend time as a couple to re-center and reflect.

Thank you Bev and David for being new "our friends" in Hawaii, providing us the experience of having our own home in Maui. We love you two.....

Room Tip: Not a swimming pool, but awesome hot tub! They provide coolers to pack lunches for your journeys! Ma...
