My new husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon and everything was so beautiful and comfortable. Amazing fresh fruit, beautiful gardens to dine in, fresh coffee to grind in the morning, an amazing jacuzzi to relax and watch the stars in, coolers, snorkels, and boogie boards galore...Bev and David made everything so effortless for us to stay in their beautiful home. A nice change of pace from resorts and a refreshing view of Hawaii's disparate climates and towns that we would never have experienced otherwise. Highly recommended!

We spent 11 days at this B&B. It is a very quiet, clean, green and luxury place to relax and to explore the beautiful island of Maui. We had absolute privacy but when we needed something Bev and Dave were always available.
Thank you Bev and Dave for sharing this amazing place with us. If we ever will return to Maui, there is only one place to stay!

We stayed at this B&B for our honeymoon in July 2012. We stayed there for one week and then island hopped--but if we were to return we would probably stay two weeks here.

Everything was amazing, the hosts are incredibly kind and really allow you to have privacy. Everything was perfect, not one thing was amiss.

Haiku is a perfect place to stay on Maui if you want to stay in a quieter, more out of the way place, and this place is paradise. You have your own kitchen, your own jacuzzi, and you can spend as much time inside or outside as you wish on the beautiful grounds.

Highly recommend this place. Best part was how quiet it was at night, under the beautiful stars, sipping a fine beverage, and enjoying the short bursts of refreshing rain that would wash over us as we enjoyed our own spa.

Was looking for a quiet get away from all the tourist hotels for a relaxing vacation and we found it with Maui Tradewinds. We travel all over the world and this has to been one of the finest stays we've had ever. Dave and Bev were outstanding hosts providing for our every need, from outstanding accommodations to assistance with information for getting around the island. The decor of the inside and the landscaping of the outside made it the perfect place to relax and forget all your issues; the view of the mountains to the beach was spectacular. This was the vacation we needed and one we will never forget due to what Dave and Bev provided with Maui Tradewinds. Thanks Dave and Bev, you will see us again.

Room Tip: The perfect place for a quiet getaway from all the tourist hustle and bustle.

You know you've found a gem when a place gets solid reviews across the board! My husband and I spent our honeymoon in the Tradewinds Suite and our experience was above and beyond all of our expectations. Bev and Dave are amazing hosts and they supply you with everything you could possibly think of. (It doesn't get more welcoming than a beautiful floral arrangement, fresh fruit and plenty of snacks waiting for you upon arrival.) And, I don't know how they do this, but they give you total privacy - and yet are there in a flash if you need anything! The outdoor spa was a perfect way to take in the beautiful scenery. Where else on Maui can you sit in a hot tub and see Haleakala, the West Maui Mountains, the ocean, and Molokai - all at the same time?! Perfect beyond words! If we ever get back, it's not even a question as to where we will stay.

So many people wrote so many good thinks and everything is true! The location is perfect. You think you are in paradise! We enjoyed watching the stars, the rain and the palms from the huge deck and the hot tub. We prepared every night our dinner in that perfect well equiped kitchen. Beverly provided us a fresh cut pinnaple, bread, lychees, coffee and more. The bathroom with the blue tiles was wonderful also the outdoor shower. There are a lot of interesting books about the history, the flowers and animals and about the island by itself in the cottage. The flowers in and around the cottage were amazing. Beverly and David are perfect hosts! Thank you again for unforgettable days and nights! There can't be a better place to stay on Maui!We are coming back!

We just got back from spending 6 amazing nights at the Star Wind Cottage and I cannot say enough good things about the cottage or Bev and David! So many things about this place I don't even know where to really start.

Upon arriving in Maui we were told to give them a call to let them know when we'd be arriving. Our flight was a little early and we had gotten our baggage and rental car fairly quickly so we were ahead of the check-in time but after giving them a call they said to come on over. When we arrived at the cottage Bev greeted us in the driveway to gives us a tour of the house and any information we may need. I can't believe all the stuff they provided for us during our stay! The house was immaculately clean, tons of plates, glasses, and cooking utensils were provided, there were all kinds of snacks (granola bars, cheerios, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, frozen waffles, and juices), they provided beach gear (chairs, towels, snorkel fins and masks, coolers, and mats), and there were books about Hawaii & Maui, along with a very helpful and informative binder about anything and everything the house that you may have questions on. After the initial walkthrough Bev told us that we wouldn't see or hear them unless we needed something (they provided both of their phone numbers) and they lived up to their word. Not once did we see or hear them the entire time we were there but I know if we needed something they would have assisted in a moments notice.

Onto the cottage itself...the house has high ceilings and provides a very open feeling. From walking in the front door straight ahead is the sitting/living room area which also feeds into the dining room area and the kitchen. To the left and to the right are the bedrooms with the one on the right being the master bedroom with the attached full bathroom. The second bedroom has a half bath but also leads right outside to the outdoor shower (which was great after coming home from the beach and being full of sand!). Outside on the patio you are created with a breathtaking view of Maui and when the clouds aren't surrounding it, Haleakala crater. There is a table and chairs out there to be able to eat outside along with a hot tub. The hot tub provided a great way to relax every evening and enjoy the view of the stars. On the back patio there was a grill that can be used for BBQing. Bev and David provided all of the tools necessary to get the grill going, even including the charcoal!

The cottage itself is located in a beautiful area of Maui called Haiku. While not directly on the beach there are several places one can go that is only about 5-10 minutes away. There are a couple of restaurants and market located in downtown Haiku which is only about a 12 minute drive away from the cottage. A little further away is Paia which has all kinds of little stores to go shopping in along with all kinds of food options (our favorites were Milagros, Paia Fish Market, and Toni's shave ice). Another great thing about the location of the house as it is right off of Hana highway and is pretty much at the start of the "Road to Hana". Just a few miles away from one of the first stops on the "Road to Hana" was Twin Falls. Being so close to this allowed us to get a head start on everyone else leaving from places like Lahaina, etc.

I hope I was able to cover everything, although I don't think that is possible! Bev and David, a big thank you for opening your home to us and providing a 5-star resort feeling at a vacation rental. Should I ever win the Powerball/MegaMillions jackpot, be ready as I will be knocking on your door to make you an offer for that cottage! :-)
