My husband and I recently visited the Suite at Maui Tradewinds for our honeymoon. The Suite was perfect! Complete with a beautiful view of the mountains and ocean, we found no reason to make any outside trips other than to the market! We enjoyed using the spa and hammock as well. The nearest town was small and complete with a food market, coffee shop, pizza restaurant, and boutiques. We were blown away at how accommodating Bev and David were -- our refrigerator came stocked with staples such as Maui coffee, milk, and butter and the kitchen was easy to use. We felt that our privacy was respected and we both returned from our trip feeling refreshed and relaxed. Can't wait to return!!

My husband and I recently had the honor of spending a week in the Suite at Maui Tradewinds where we found the accommodations to be far more than expected and David and Bev (our host & hostess) to be gracious, kind, knowledgeable, attentive and helpful while remaining unobtrusive. The property is a paradise, in and of itself, nestled on a beautifully landscaped hillside with breathtaking views of lush valley, Mt. Haleakala and the ocean in the distance. The Suite is absolutely lovely, infused with the feel of the islands, and offers all the comforts of home as well as the luxuries of an indoor sauna and private outdoor area with grill, lounge chairs, large hammock and hot-tub to be enjoyed under a starlit sky. David and Bev have anticipated all possible needs of their guests and provided most everything a couple/family could need or want to make their visit comfortable and complete. We can honestly say that the Suite and it's surroundings set the feel and pace for our days in paradise making them all the more enjoyable!

We've visited Maui more than ten times, have stayed in a variety of hotels and condos, and since discovering Maui Tradewinds about six years ago, will never stay anywhere else. First the property itself is absolutely stunning. It overlooks a beautiful valley, with Mt. Haleakala and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. The house (Star Wind Cottage) is nestled into the hillside. It's quiet, clean and well-equipped. Boogie boards, swim fins, beach chairs, portable coolers -- it's all there. Among the property's many attributes are its hosts, David and Beverly. They exude aloha spirit --- kind, friendly and unobtrusive. And thorough --- you enter the house to the sound of lilting Hawaiian music and see a beautiful bouquet of local flowers --- we've stayed there about six times, and it's always like walking into a dream. Then, if you've arrived during daylight hours, you notice the lush valley extending below. Hungry? There's always a huge bowl of fruit, and an ample stock of coffee and other staples. This last time (Feb. 2012 we stayed in cooked a lot, but there are wonderful restaurants just a short drive (about 15 mins.) away. Close enough to be convenient, far enough away not to spoil the peaceful atmosphere the house, its setting, and its hosts create.

P.S. The Wi-Fi in the house is wicked fast, if you're into that sort of thing.

Room Tip: We've only stayed in Star Wind Cottage. Bev and Dave live in a house nearby, and I understand there's an ocean view apartment on the back side of their house.

You won't believe what a wonderful place this is. Bev and David have created a beautiful little oasis that you never want to leave. It was so nice each morning having coffee and breakfast on the patio, then going on a short adventure ,only to return to my evening hammock time, then a nightly soak in the absolutely beautiful hot tub time looking while gazing up at the moon and the milky way!!!!
I am already saving for my return trip. Thank you Bev and David, I felt so peaceful and loved during my stay. See you soon I hope.

Our second year at the Starwind cottage. Quiet and peaceful yet close to great food in Paia and Haiku. The attention to detail by Beverly and David is much appreciated.
