We had an informative tour and beautiful grounds. This was well worth the time to visit. The thoughtful and careful restoration project/enhancement of historical significance is stunning. The gardens are absolutely beautiful.

We stopped by here in the morning about 0900, expecting to pay an entrance fee, and walk around the grounds. Disappointed in that it is by appointment only. There are tours at 1030 and 1400. Book tickets online at the Haiku Mill website. $16/person (also check groupon). Tour and photo opportunities are about 1 hour in length. This is a tour of an old sugar mill and botanical highlights, including a 100 year old mango tree. The old mill as been rejuvenated and is used as a wedding and event venue. The cane house portion was closed, interior freshly painted and still wet. At the end of the tour you are treated to a glass of mango lemonade, which is very good. This is an off the beaten path attraction, but well worth hunting it down.

My husband and I did the historical botanical tour in early September. We booked our tickets through the website in advance of our trip. The price was so reasonable. Haiku is a quick drive past Paia, however the mill was hard to find. There are no signs and the only marker on the road was the number 250 on the gate post. We did not have gps, and did not have a detailed map so our bad on that part. We joined the tour a few minutes late, and the guide was so friendly. She didn't give us a hard time, and the rest of the guests quickly welcomed us to the tour.

The guide was very knowledgable about the plants on the property and the history of the mill. The mango tree is majestic! The property is immaculately cared for, and you are transported back in time as you explore the property.

The cane house was so beautiful, with lots of old world treasures to admire. The chandelier in the kitchen - stunning.

And the mill... I could have spent hours within those 4 walls. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Words just don't do it justice. The amount of time and effort that has gone into making this property what it is- truly astounding and nothing short of remarkable.

The tour ended with a glass of delicious mango lemonade underneath the grand mango tree. Every aspect of this tour was surreal - even my husband who wasn't too excited for the tour really enjoyed it and didn't want to leave. He kept saying "Did you see that? What about this? What's over here? Can we look around some more?" This location evokes that sense of wonder.

I would highly recommend this tour - we started our day at the mill and then carried on to explore Makawao, Kula and the Maui Winery.
