“Surprise in Haiku”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

We were given Colleen's as a recommendation of our innkeeper while in Haiku. Now, the reason I title this as a surprise, is that Haiku is a tiny bit of a town, with only three, four or so restaurants to its name, so I really didn't expect to find much (or anything) in the way of fine dining. Boy, what an incredible and pleasant surprise Colleens was!
Open entering, you immediately see that there is no host, and seating is anywhere you can find it. So you wait untill a table opens up and grab it. We were so lucky to get the best spot in the house which was a cute corner table for two, where we could look out on the whole big room while being close enough to hear each other over the significant buzz from the apparent local enthusiasts. We ordered the fish special of the evening, opakapaka served over a bed of sautéed kale with bacon and side of potato cake, and carrot ginger soup with coconut milk for starters. Wow!! We were just blown away! Never expecting such perfectly prepared and presented dishes in this little out of the way spot! We both voted that this was the best meal we had during our whole 8 day Maui vacation! This after 5 days on West Maui with all its fine restaurants and resorts! The service was first class, efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. What a treat! We wish we were staying longer just to have more dinners at Colleens!

“Great pizza & want to try the other things on the menu.”
Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

My wife, our 2 college kids and I are staying in nearby Haiku. We slid in for pizza. To tide us over, we shared a wonderfully fresh and flavorful Caesar Salad, ordered some local beers and enjoyed the classic rock music playing softly in the background. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed..exactly what we wanted. The pizza menu is great, had the Sweet & Spicy and the Thai Chicken. The rest of the menu and the specials sounded wonderful and creative. We wish we had more time here to return to Colleen's to try some other items from the menu.

“Great local spot with good food in Haiku”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

We went to this restaurant in Haiku three times we liked it so much. Breakfast is wonderful and their omelets are large enough to share with local ingredients. Got the vegie 2 times with good coffee too. My son had a fruit smoothie and it was good too. Went for dinner and had a great local Maui meat burger with fries. Good service and a nice small Hawaiian town.
