Fascinating to see the artifacts and information about "ancient" and recent history of this area. Most interesting to see pictures of how the town looked at various times -- to see the growth of the Cook Island pines from the early 1920s onwards.

The history of Lanai is pretty much unknown to the world ... but this little cultural center brings it to life: early Hawaiians and their cultural practices; the Mormon settlement in the 19th centure; the introduction of pineapples ... the development of the plantation ... and the immigrants that worked the fields. Not only fascinating - it's free!

Very interesting to learn about the history & heritage of the island. My husband came here 38 years ago as a teen ager and worked in the pineapple fields for a summer job. He was sad to see that gone now.

We rode a Trilogy catamaran to Lanai for a tour of the island and some great snorkeling/snuba. The ride over and back was just absolutely gorgeous with dolphins visiting us from time to time. It was so interesting to learn not only the history of the island, but also to see a culture that lives almost entirely off the land, growing almost all of their own food, and hunting and fishing for game. There are no supermarkets, or big box stores on Lanai. There are unique resorts and shops and a great golf course. A wonderful experience.
