Description: ONE FORTY's name pays homage to Lanai's beautiful 140 square miles and a steak prepared at 140 degrees. At Manele Bay, enjoy traditional breakfast fare with an island influence and dinner featuring hand cut steaks and fish caught just off shore. With an emphasis on local ingredients, our Chef showcases the flavors native to Hawaii. Choose a wine from our accomplished 300 bottle selection and enjoy the picturesque view of Hulopoe Bay.

Our family went to our first dinner at the Four Seasons Menele Bay with high expectations. The kids started with Portuguese Soup and while the flavor was good the pork in the soup was mostly pure fat. Next Mom and Dad got the Ahi sashimi. It was revolting. My wife spit her first bite out in her napkin. Unfortunately I swallowed it. We had just eaten sashimi at The Banyan Tree at the Ritz in Kapalua the night before and it was excellent. What a contrast!

At this point we were about ready to walk out, but then my daughter's chicken arrived that the menu said "no spice added". Which we assumed meant it was not going to be spicy. After all, she ordered it off the Kids Menu. Unfortunately, our 7 year old took a bite and immediately exclaimed IT'S HOT! Sure enough, after tasting it, it was very spicy, even by spice-loving parents standards. After the 7 year old drank a lot of milk and water we decided enough was enough and left with a $150 bill (Mai Tai, 2 glasses of wine and a couple other marginal dishes).

Avoid this place at all costs. Eat at the grill by the pool and be happy with the burgers.

The b-fast buffett is served here. The breakfast buffett is very good. The pancakes with coconut syrup are yummy. They have lots of fresh fruits. As has been said the buffett is very expensive, $80.00 for two people.

The dinner concept is very strange. They group the menu into countries and everything is ala- carte. No entree with a side dish. You order everything separately, even the rice. The portions are tiny. You think you can share, but they are so small. This is the casual concept restaurant for the hotel. The view is amazing. The dinner wait staff was not great and the menu not impressive. I would choose another place if avaible.

We dined throughout the resort and local establishment eateries when we were on Lanai for our honeymoon and the service and food at the Hulopo'e Court were by far the worst we saw. Actually, the food at the whole of the Manele Bay resort couldn't compare to the offerings in Lanai City or the Lodge at Koele. The service staff was somewhat rude when we wanted tap water to drink (instead of paying for bottled water) and were completely dismissive when we brought in beverages we had purchased at the resort bar. The food was uninspired, offerings on the plate did not flow well together, and the whole experience left me hungry and wishing we had eaten somewhere, ANYWHERE, else. If you must eat the Four Seasons at Manele try Ihilani, the clubhouse at the golf course, or take the shuttle into town and try the Lanai City Grille.
