“Expected more from a Nobu restaurant”
Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Came here for dinner one evening.
- hamachi sashimi was very fresh and excellent
- Nobu's signature dish, the miso cod, was excellent. The miso flavor was subtly combined with a very light sweet glaze.
- the rib eye steak was terrible- it was tough and did or live up to expectations, fortunately, our server took it off the bill
- the soft shell crab sushi roll was ok, but nothing different from any other sushi restaurant

Stick with fresh seafood.

Aloha TravelForever58,

Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us. I'm glad you enjoyed our signature dishes. The yellowtail jalapeño is an excellent choice, as well as the black cod. I'm also pleased to learn that you experienced Chef's wonderful flavors. I want to apologize for missing the mark on the rib eye. Chef and I appreciative your honest feedback and have taken a closer look at the preparation of this dish. We hope you dine with us again soon, whether here in paradise, or in one of our other restaurants worldwide.

Mahalo!

“innovative, delicious and such an experience”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

Our first trip to Nobu was so amazing we had to go back so we went twice on our Lanai vacation.
The food was honestly innovative and we are Japanese food lovers. The combination of the Peruvian accents really made the dishes unique and so delicious. You can eat "raw" food but the cooked and hot dishes are just as interesting.
Great addition to the Four Seasons..

“Our new favorite Lanai restaurant”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We've traveled to Lanai multiple times. On our recent five-night visit, we dined at Nobu twice.

The menu is served tapas, family style so you essentially share every dish. We loved everything we tried. The most memorable dishes were the shrimp tempura, spinach salad with dried miso and truffle oil, 48-hour teriyaki glazed short ribs with a spicy South American ricoto sauce, and the pineapple shave ice.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable on the menu. They were super helpful in guiding us what to order based on our tastes.

As a couple, we didn't really care much for the tables for two, but we loved the low tables with sofas by railing. That was much more unique and romantic.

Nobu Lanai is a very welcome addition to Lanai.

“Nobu rocks Manele to perfection”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Nobu Lanai is a superb addition to Manele Bay.

My husband and I have been traveling to Lanai for years and as most know who have been there, dining options were very limited. This restaurant is a welcome change to Manele Bay's past restaurants.

We ate there two nights over the holidays. Nobu, the owner, was there both evenings and our service and food was spectacular.

Never having eaten at a Nobu restaurant before I wasn't sure of what to expect, but we were very satisfied with both the ambiance and dinner itself. The menu is very different from all of the other restaurants, and provided healthy alternatives to standard dining fare.

Both nights were problem free, and the restaurant had just opened. The staff was exceptional and well prepared. Everyone had great communication skills and was a pleasure to interact with from the front reception desk to the entire wait staff. The crew made sure our needs were met at all times.

Nobu restaurant actually made our vacation more enjoyable.

“modern vibe / fresh interesting food/ pushy service”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

New Nobu at 4 seasons Lanai is a welcome change however the service is far from Hawaiian!
food was good although some portions very small namely tuna tacos & Hamachi that was $8 was literally one piece of fish about 1" square & nothing else! Décor was good, contemporary and relaxed but the staff were pushy and sales driven. we felt forced to order food esp when our waitress commented "is that all?" at our order. On a separate evening the male waiter we had serving us tried to brag to us how Mr murdoch ( the previous owner of the island) cancelled all the fireworks in previous years " but the new owner Mr Ellison was bringing them all back. We are regular visitors to lana and know that this is not true. there have always been fireworks. We found it rude to hear the negative remarks about previous times to Nobu. I hope that 4 seasons retrain these waiters to be more polite, less pushy and more discreet or it will ruin the beauty and unpretentiousness of Lanai.
