“Breathtaking views”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

What a gorgeous restaurant! Our table was poolside and with a killer ocean view. We were there a little after sunset but I would imagine seeing the actual sunset here would be amazing! The food here was delicious and extremely well prepared, and pricey, as one would expect on Lana'i. As we were a large group, we got a lot of little dishes and shared. I loved the clams, the caprese salad, and most of all, the beet salad. I never knew beets could taste so amazing and sweet. There is an ample wine list to choose from and the cocktail list was fairly extensive as well. For your entree, I would recommend getting the special/fresh catch dish. I got the swordfish they were serving when I was on island and it was superb! My only gripe about Kailani is the service. The staff was not efficient and didn't clear plates, fill water glasses, etc in a timely manner. Thankfully the food and the view made up for their lack of attentiveness.

“Great views, okay food”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

We ate a Kailani when we stayed at Manele Bay last year and it was excellent. Food seems to have fallen off a bit, but views and service were still great.

“good food with an awesome view”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

first time for husband and i in Lanai via Expedition Ferry, we wanted to check this hotel out.

the view from where we were seating was awesome, i ordered lychee sangria and grilled angus beef burger with fries on the side, husband had the antipasto platter and plantation ice tea. it was really good, but boy it was pricey. the whole thing costs $71!!!

but the staff was very friendly, the view was awesome, and it's not everyday we're in Lanai. it doesnt everyday.

“Not just the pool bar.”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

We stopped for a drink after snorkeling thinking we would eat elsewhere. So glad we stayed and dined there with the live music and the sun setting and the bay view. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu and how to order so that we could eat light but get more than one dish. The food was very good. The overall experience was excellent.

“A welcome alternative from Lodge at Koele”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

We dined at Kailani for dinner on Saturday. The setting is outdoors and quite comfortable. We began, before we order, telling the waiter that we were not in a rush, so please take it slow. It took awhile for our wine to be poured because the bottle had to be retrieved from the cellar -- no prob!. He poured our wine and we placed our order. Within 3 minutes (maybe 4 or 5) our appetizers were served. We'd had two sips of wine and had no time to just "be". We reminded the waiter that we wanted to take it slow -- he said he'd check back with us every five minutes or so so we could tell him when we were ready (I prefer unobtrusive service; this is not unobtrusive).

The appetizers were good (I was disappointed to see that the salad caprese had only three thin slices of heirloom tomatoes (one green, one red, and one yellow), two dollops of what appeared to be a slightly stringy ricotta cheese, and several small basil leaves). But it was OK. The entrees were also fine -- tasty and fresh, but unimaginative.

We would return, but with revised expectations. The setting is perfect!!
