My partner wasn't sure if he wanted to go on this one because so few people had reviewed it here online in comparison to some of the other attractions and hikes. However, this was such an amazing hike and experience! The hike is mostly downhill on the way to the Falls. You walk for about 30 mins before you get to the two most amazing vistas we'd seen in our lives. You get to see the Waimea Canyon much closer than you would at any guardrail! The cliffs are absolutely beautiful and not to be missed. The waterfall you walk to is a nice refreshing end to your trip. The water is cold but you'll get used to it. The bottom of the pool is mostly rocks. The hike back up is uphill and I had to stop to catch my breath a few times, but it was definitely worth it. Remember to stretch after you hike or else you'll feel it the next day!

It was beautiful peaceful and soul restoring. Went back on a not so cloudy and cold day. Had a circular rainbow of our shadow out in the clouds. Awsome!

This is a good, moderate hike. Trail is in good condition, but slippery when wet - which it usually is. Doable for average folks in 2-3 hours. Nice views of the canyon, but we found no way to see the main falls from this trail.

If you are a traveler who loves the outdoors and a good moderate hike, I say this is a must do.
This trail in Waimea Canyon is not as celebrated as the Kalalau Trail accessed on the north shore, but it is on par in terms of spectacular scenery and great exercise. The difference, of course, is that your views are of the canyon as opposed to the ocean cliffs. But truly just as breathtaking. We also found it to be far less busy than the first two miles of Kalalau.

The beginning of this trail is through muddy forest. Don't be discouraged! The pay-off once you reach the clearing is so absolutely worth it.

If your primary objective is to hike to a waterfall, this is not your trail. There is a small "waterfall"...more like some trickling brooks, but that is not the real draw here. For an amazing waterfall, hike the first two miles of the Kalalau and then the two miles inland to Hanakapiai Falls (breathtaking in its own right).

However, the Waimea Canyon trail seems to be absolutely underrated in our opinion. The views of the canyon are so wonderful. Highly recommend!

If you are in decent shape you have to do this hike. You will never see anything like it anywhere else in the world. I dangled my feet off the edge of an 800 ft. waterfall after seeing one of the most beautiful panoramic views in my life. What more do I need to say?

Just be aware that the small falls that you come to first are not the coolest ones. When you get to the second waterfall go up the stream a little and there is a piece of wood laid across that will allow you to get across. Follow the stream back to the waterfall and you are in for a treat.

Absolutely not to be missed.
