This canyon is beautiful, with many hiking trails, and a few lookout points. When the sun is shining, the scenery is extraordinary with the red dirt and the green plants-- it's like a Christmas landscape. However, don't bother driving to the canyon if it's raining. You won't be able to see, as you will be in the cloud.

Many trips to the lookouts, especially Kalalau Lookout, but each time there was a haze over the valley. This March, perfect clear day, you could see the breakers rolling in at the bottom. The road, 552 is all new and great, go the longer way its better.

Totally awesome views of the weathered cliffs marbled with the red rock of the island and the verdant green growth in the valleys. The panorama is beautiful. Typical overlook with lots of tourist so views can be impeded with others in front of you. If you can, drive yourself you have don't have a 20 minute tour bus stop.

The road to Waimea Canyon is windy and narrow, but in pretty good shape. We had little trouble navigating, although you will want to watch your brakes on the way back down. They can get hot quickly. There are lots of wildlife on the route up, and the flora is beautiful, but the view of the canyon is quite breathtaking. The colors and conformation is lovely. We did see wild goats deep in a crevice, partway down the canyon wall. This site is a must see.

A must see when on Kauai. You'll never see anything like it again - no matter where you travel in the world. I still get goosebumps thinking about it and looking at our photos. An explosion of colors, light, shadows, landscape...truly an amazing experience.
