Owner description: A historical state beach park with breathtaking views and landscape.

Worth the bumpy drive, if you're worried you're lost, keep going! Beautiful soft sands and large waves (good for wave jumping if you're a strong swimmer, this is definitely not a kids' swimming beach - you'll want to keep a close eye on them). The best though is the view, this beach is stunning, you get a great view of the beginning of the Napali coastline jutting out of the water. I really hope to camp there next time! There were bathrooms and rinsing stations for getting rid of sand before hopping back in the car. The beach was populated, but not at all crowded, but we went in December, so that might have contributed to that.

Although the drive to the beach is on a dirt road it is well worth the breathtaking views and the largest widest sandiest beach my wife and I have ever seen. Camping is permitted on the beach and there is water and restrooms available. Too bad we found this little piece of heaven the day we were leaving

Excellent park - we camped there for 5 nights - loved it! The beaches were clean, despite the numerous parties that happen over the weekends.

This was an hour+ drive from Poipu, so worth it. When you get close, yes, there really is a five mile dirt road to get there. We were in a non jeep rental car and did fine....just have to go slower. We were told to turn at the banion tree and park there, walk the rest of the way up the beach. BUT we never saw it and drove to the end just fine and parked right there.....the lone long beach is breathtaking...your at the edge of those gorgous cliffs you can only see by helicopter or boat. You can see nehau (sp?) and another island from here, plus winter time wonderful viewing of breaching whales! People camp here, rustic at best for that.....but expansive beautiful un-populated beach.....

Road: January 2013; road is MUCH better than it used to be. But, it is still 3-6 miles of a washboard gravel road. We averaged 12-18 miles/hour in a Jeep compass, so it is a good 20 minutes of bumps once you start on the gravel. The monkeypod tree is clearly marked with painted boulders to highlight that turn off (left) along the road. The two days we drove out, we went the extra 3 miles past the monkeypod where the bathrooms, fresh water shower, and the napali cliffs are - its neat to get up next to them!

View: it is unforgettable....a must see, if you can get over the long bumpy road....

Tips: the weekdays are less busy for great photos of empty beach, but there is SO much beach here, it feels very uncrowded even on weekends; arrive before 11am for a good parking space; bring water, snacks, and/or picnic lunch as you will likely stay longer than you had planned; a shade device would be nice to have along - its hot and sunny!
