Sealodge at Princeville
Reviewed February 20, 2013

This is our second time staying at Sealodge and we have enjoyed both visits!. In Jan 2012 we stayed in F3 and Jan 2013 we staying in B10. We booked both condos through Hestara (www.hestara.com) and had no problems with either booking and working with Geri.

This review is for B10 (http://www.hestara.com/b10.htm). The condo was very clean on arrival and fully stocked with everything you needed including beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers and various spices. We love B10! Why? because it wasn't a ground floor unit and we felt safe leaving the windows open at night, it has also been completely remodeled with hardwood floors, granite counters and stainless steel appliances. The very comfortable king bed was a bonus! (most of the other condos have queens) and the furniture in the living room was very tasteful. Our favorite part of the condo was laying on the twin bed in the punai reading and looking out at the ocean - simply awesome!

All the units are individually owned (as far as I know), so the furnishings and upkeep will be different based on the condo you reserve. For the price of B10 ($140 a night), you get a fantastic ocean view that is unbeatable!

Yes, Sealodge is very dated on the outside, but the inside and the views make up for it, so you won't be disappointed! We will be going back in 2014!

Sea lodge is convenient to restaurants, golf courses and shops. Our room had a gorgeous view of Kalikiwi bay and the lighthouse on the north shore of Kauai. the best thing that happened was Jeannie, the concierge, at (808) 652-8538 to book all your Hawaiian activities, including personal per-arrival grocery shopping. Very convenient having your wine, cheese, crackers and chips in your room allowing you more time to sit on the lanai with your goodies and enjoy the view. Jeannie is a local on Kauai for 28 years and definitely the woman you want to connect with to get you to the right place. She took great care of us and quickly resolved some booking issues.

This unit is almost perfect. The ocean view is fantastic. You get a great view from the punai (two big windows), from the living room, and from the private deck. The interior decoration is a real professional work.

The unit is equipped with many beach gears like umbrella, chair, towels etc which are quite handy for the beach trips on the island. That is one of the best of our trip to have them everywhere we go.

The only problem is every time we left food on the kitchen counter, immediately the tiny ants came. I also saw a small cockroach moving towards the back of the kitchen cabinet. One time, we also saw a (1 inch long) cockroach rushing across the living room floor. Being in the summer time, the cleaning work of this unit should be done more thoroughly. This Sealodge complex is also getting aged. Always request the C8 management company to do a pest control work prior to your arrival.

Other than the ocean view, yet the best of this unit is to count the stars at night on the punai. I have never seen so many stars, so bright and so clear, in my life. Lying on the punai, you have the whole sky right there and hundreds and hundreds of stars right in front of you.

Never leave food on the counter, then you are fine.

The views from this condo are stunning – unobstructed ocean front, with straight on views of Kilauea lighthouse and the coral reef. Sitting on the lanai watching the sunrise is worth the stay alone. The condo is well-decorated, and stocked with what we needed. Granite counter tops and tile flooring in the kitchen and bathroom are a nice, modern touch, but the condo still has a vintage Hawaiian feel.

Room Tip: This condo has an ocean view.

Our family stayed at Sealodge in December. We have been to Kauai many times but this was the first time staying on the north shore. F8 is a nice place to stay for the money. We found it quiet, clean and just as described by the rental company. A few things to know when considering Sealodge. This is not beach front, but if you are able and willing to take a hike down the trail to Sealodge beach you won't be disappointed! It's a nice little cove for snorkeling when conditions permit and we almost always had it all to ourselves! F8 has a nice view but certainly not the best Sealodge has to offer. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals and having a full size washer and dryer was nice! Be sure to keep the kitchen clean and take out the trash or you will have unwanted "visitors"...
If we were to stay on the north shore again we would definitely consider staying at Sealodge again, but I think I would spend a little more and stay in one of the units with the best views.

We loved our stay at Sealodge and in walking around, it was easy to see that every unit was different, had a different feel, and view, so it depends on what you want as to whether you'll enjoy your stay. We had a ground floor corner unit with a beautiful view of the ocean. It had 4 big windows looking out, including in the bedroom. I was astounded at the view when we first walked in. I never wanted to leave, it was that good.

There is a wonderful beach nearby, and you have to hike for about 10 minutes to get to it, but it is worth it. The pool and the grounds are very well maintained.

My wife loved it too, but thought that the place was a little run down. I think it is just showing it's age a little, but we'd be back in a heartbeat. Being on the ground floor, we could hear the couple above us, but they were very quite and polite. The only downside could be if the people above you are not quiet - that could be a problem, as in all condos.

This felt like the real Hawaii to us.

Room Tip: We feel a corner unit has a bigger view and more windows.

My husband and I just returned form our vacation on Oct 4-12th and stayed in D7 the condo is just as advertised.
First i will state that I am a little picky and do my research before making a reservation and sometimes I am disappointed but this time I can honestly say I was greatly pleased with this condo and the rental company we went through.
Pictures on their webpage are exactly as it is.
Very nice, clean, condo had everything that you would want to make your trip a nice one beach chairs, snorkeling gear, some beach toys for children lots of reading material on Kauai and some nice books to read on the lanai.
They supplied nice plush towels for both bathing and beach. Comfy beds. Washer and Dryer was put to good use they supplied a sample pack of Tide.
Kitchen had everything you would need.paper towels and dish soap was supplied.
Bathrooms had sample size Bath and Body shampoo and soap.
No AC but when windows and ceiling fans are going it is quite nice.
The sounds of the ocean to lull you to sleep every night and wake you every morning is a pleasure. The ocean is right outside your window over the cliff.Watching the waves is awesome.
The trek to the beach is not an easy one so use caution.

We would recommend this to our family and friends and look forward to staying here again.

Room Tip: Read reviews and don't hesitate to ask questions. Use caution when traveling to Sealodge Beach...
