After complaining and getting out of the Pahio Ka 'eo Kae resort we were moved to these villas and absolutely loved this place. Our unit was 511 and was private and right by the waterfall connected to the pool area. Helped drown out any roosters crowing in the middle of the night. Definitely request an inside unit; buildings 400, 500 or such. They are building newer units 20+ but they have very little tree coverage and not as nice grounds. Far from the main pool, grill and office areas. Definitely would recommend this unit to anyone.

Rooms adequate, but many sticking or squeaky doors. Poor soundproofing between units. No AC, but abundant ceiling fans. Cell reception abyssmal, "high speed" Internet wifi through wayport.net barely above dial-up speeds with mediocre to no signal. Pools very nice, but not enough convenient grills around the complex. Timeshare upgrade sales staff very pushy and nagged a relative who signed up for a presentation incessantly (4 calls to room in 1 day!).

We went here for our Honeymoon and loved every minute of our stay. It took us a bit to find the location. It was midnight and pouring, so we had to call the office staff a few times. Each time they were very freindly and very helpful.
Before our stay we had read many of reviews complaining about maid service, roosters, and a/c.
Fist of all the roosters are every where on the island, so aside from getting rid of the whole lot of them, the resort should not be responsible for the noise from the birds. We actually rarely heard the roosters.
The condo was exactly like apartment living, but better. Everything was very clean and there were products and appliences to help you keep it that way. Every possible kitchen applience was there for our use. Even ones we had never used at home. We loved that there was a washer and dryer. Not having to do laundry when we returned home to Cali was awesome. We never saw any maid service, but this was expected as you are well informed of this in their informational booklet. Had we needed anything we only had to ask. We are not high maintenance people, so we did not need our bed changed and made for us on a daily basis. Nor did we need fresh towels every day. It was very easy to keep the place clean as we are not messy people. Those who expect and want the spoiled pampered trip should check into a hotel.
When it came to A/C, our trip was at the end of November so it was never missed by us. We kept the windows open all day and night and were very comfortable.
We only used the staff once for booking an activity and they were very helpful. Other wise we did our own planning and adventures.
This is a very laid back island. If you are one in need of high night life go to a different island. We loved the sleepyness and tranquil feel. It was perfect to erase all of our cares and worries and just relax and enjoy eachother.
We hope to make it a family tradition and return every year with the kids during Thanksgiving.
Amazing trip, we loved it!!!

The staff was AWESOME, we asked for anything and they performed. The ONLY problem we had at the Resort and everywhere else on Kauai...the Chickens/Roosters... they are everywhere. If you get a unit in the middle of the complex, it was a little quieter - we got switched on the 3rd day there, if they did not switch us, we would have left to another island or at least to a place that had air conditioning (so we close all the windows)...which brings up the fact that they do not have AC.... it was a warm spell and not much wind on our trip.

The sales presentation was suppose to be 1 hour max 1.5 ... it went on for 2 hours and than we only used the discount card in one place..found better prices than the card gives.. ASK to see the list of discount places before you agree to that gift, and ask if they have any...they ran out?? for other people. Other reviews bring up some good points as well...both positive and negative.

We had done our research before arrival so knew to ask for a second floor unit facing away from the parking lot. We were successful with this. We had read about the roosters and was prepared for a morning ruckus. I hardly even heard them. Our unit was clean, fully equipped. Maintenance and housekeeping were timely in response to some minor issues. A huge drawback was the bed. It was like sleeping on a waterbed....very mushy.

I am a Wyndam owner. I will be writing to Wyndam upon my return due to the poor treatment by Wyndam staff. Once it was established I was an owner, the staff directed me to contact event businesses myself. They would not do it or help with reservations for activities. This is the first resort that I have been poorly treated by Wyndam staff.

This is our 5th visit to Kauai. Stayed for 2 nights to use as a base for day hiking on the North Shore.
The Unit:
Our condo was on the bottom floor near the new swimming pool. The layout was perfect for two couples because the 2 bedrooms were on opposite sides of the common living areas. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. Unit was clean, modestly furnished, but had no A/C. After getting out of the shower the humidity was a killer. We remained dripping wet. Leaving windows open made it noisy. Bed was too mushy for us, but that's different for everyone. We had people staying upstairs that liked Hawaiian music and were very active. It sounded like they might have been wearing wooden shoes. Having a washer/dryer was a big help after hiking.
Check-in:
We had trouble locating the check-in office. We happened to see a guest in the parking area and asked them for directions. We went to that office and they sent us to another office on the main road to register and get keys, and then back to the 1st office to get parking pass. This was not unbearable, but I would think they could streamline check-in to just one location. They did ask if we were interested in a time-share presentation and we declined without them hounding us about it.
Other Areas:
We were attracted to this unit because there was no cleaning fee. Most condo rentals have cleaning fees of at least $100 and that is a lot to absorb on a two night stay. We have rented from private owners before from the big rental websites and found that most units are better furnished with all the little extras. (beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, bicycles, paper towels, napkins, books, dvd's, toys for kids, board games, dryer sheets, laundry sheets, etc.)

The bottom line:
1. Do not stay anywhere in Hawaii under 1500 feet elevation without air conditioning.
2. Unit was decent, but not great.
3. No, we will not rent here again.

This was my very first visit to any of the Hawaiian Islands. I traveled with my husband and another married couple that are friends of ours that this was also their first trip to the islands. We had an absolutely wonderful experience and it started with the excellent accommodations at the Bali Hai Villas. We reserved this facility through an RCI timeshare exchange. After reading some of the prior posting I was a bit nervous. But we had an excellent experience beginning with our arrival to the villas. After traveling more than 12 hours via airplane from North Carolina we all were tired so we had trouble locating the resort complex where the villas are located (The sign is black so it is easy to miss at night). I called the front desk 3 times to get better directions than the ones I received from the RCI web site and the desk clerk was wonderful. On the 3rd phone call she remained on the line until we arrived at the check in desk. The concierge on staff that evening stayed late to help us get checked in and she gave us some great recommendations of activities to do while on the island. The other front desk associate was very friendly and actually moved us to a 2nd floor unit in one of the brand new buildings so we could take advantage of the trade winds.

The unit itself was great. It had all of the amenities we needed with lots of upgraded features and there was plenty of space. I like how the 2 bedrooms were completely split on opposite sides of the unit. I was very nervous about no A/C since my husband likes to run the A/C in February if I let him but as long as you leave the windows open and the ceiling fans running at all times it was comfortable. My one complaint about no A/C is after returning to the villa after several morning jogs I had to sit on the patio to completely cool off before getting in the shower. The flow of air in the master bathroom is not that great so ladies I highly recommend blow drying your hair in the bedroom if not it will get unbearably hot.

We had 2 small maintenance issues. The knob that switches on the spa tub in the Master bathroom wasn’t working so after filling up the tub we couldn’t switch back to take a shower. We called the maintenance line around 7pm and within 5 mins they called to say they were sending somebody up to fix the problem. The 2nd issue we had was with the sink disposal. There was leak so we called maintenance and within less than 10 mins there was a knock on the door and somebody was there to fix it. All of the staff was very pleasant whenever we called with questions or any issue. The villas themselves are very comfortable and well furnished with everything we needed. It was so great to have a washer/dryer in the unit it made it easy to cut back on the amount of clothing we packed.

The 2nd pool was recently opened in the summer and it is fantastic! The pool and the space around the pool are huge. It has 2 natural stone hot tubs with plenty of space for 6 or more people. Separate sections in the pool for people to lounge. It has a big sand bottom beach area (this was my favorite feature). After each morning jog I stopped by the new pool to dip my feet and legs in the sand beach area and just relax. We also used the grills in that area for dinner one night. They have all of the grilling utilities you need right there. There were plenty of lounge chairs, small tables, and umbrellas. I also liked that there were only villas on one side of the pools to it was more quiet and peaceful.

Overall this was a great facility. The resort area surrounding the villas was great. Great running paths, golf, although small a beach area near by, a pretty scenic overlook just a short walk behind the villas, close to grocery shopping and other local restaurants. My last recommendation is if you visit this part of the island you absolutely must visit Hanalei Bay Beach. Hands down it is the most incredible beach throughout the island and probably the world.
