“Huge tide pool gray for swimming”
Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

This place is beautiful, great for swimming, whale watching, and wave watching. Be very careful if the swell is up, and even if it isn't. We witnessed a wave come up and knock some people off their feet. But that being said, don't let the waves deter you if it looks calm.

“Worth the hike!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

So beautiful. My husband and I and our 2 girls (14 and 12) did the little hike through the "forest" and over lava rocks to find the Queens Bath. As you are hiking/exploring(btw, wear hiking shoes - flip flop s are a bit cumbersome) ...just keep going...you'll think it's not there...but just around the corner - there it is! Beautiful! Our girls jumped off the rocks into the 'bath'. They loved it. An island native told us....never venture out to the outter wall of rocks - especially when the waves are pounding - you could be swept off. Stay in the 'bath' area and you will have fun and love it!

“Scariest Part of our Entire Trip”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We visited Queen's Bath at the end of March. We stopped by on our way to Waimea Canyon. It was pretty hard to find because it seems as if you are going to the Hilton Hotel or to a neighborhood, but that's the starting off point. It was very weird to park in a col-de-sac in a pedestrian neighborhood. We thought we got it wrong. After a bit of a difficult hike (it was raining off and on so the trail was very slippery), we got there. It was the most aggressive waves I have ever seen. I was actually scared. We could not even see Queen's Bath because the tide was so high and violent. We kept walking further and further down the cliffs until we found another couple. They pointed to where the bath normally is and said this was the most violent they've seen it all year. After about an hour the tide settled a little and we could see the outline of where the bath was suppose to be. Although we did not get the normal experience, we are so glad we saw it. The views were amazing and it was pretty awesome to be so close to something so beautiful and deadly at the same time.

“Beautiful!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Don't miss this attraction. Although it is somewhat difficult to reach it is well worth the time and effort.bring your swim suit and have a swim..it is a beautiful spot and the surroundings are awesome! One word of caution do not go there when there are warnings of a swell...you can be swept away by the waves and into the sea!

“A Short Slippery Hike, But Well Worth It.”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We visited the Queen’s Bath during the last day of our Kauai trip. It’s a little difficult to find the parking/trailhead area unless you have a GPS, or have a good guidebook. It is in a residential area. There are not a lot of parking spaces, but there were a few spots when we arrived.
We went after several days of rain and the trail was very slippery. It is also very steep in some places and there is nothing around in the way of handholds. Another hiker said it was even more slippery than usual. My teenage daughter fell a couple of times, I slipped and fell once. It was like walking on an icy trail, only a very steep icy trail. I’d recommend you have decent shoes. Hiking shoes or hiking sandals. Walking in slippery flip-flops or shoes with heals will be a challenge. The trail down is very scenic if you like greenery and that “jungle” look. I do. About ¾ the way down you encounter a small waterfall, which is a nice backdrop for a photo of your hiking party.

We did not actually go into the pools but there were several people in them. It’s a very scenic location so be sure you have a camera. I’d like to go back someday and enjoy the pools themselves. As other have cautioned, this is not something you want to do during higher tides or heavy surf.
