“Slippery hike with mosquitos but worth the hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

short hike but there is lots of slippery mud and mosquitos. Lots of turtles in the water but no easy entry to the water... still worth it.

“Good to see but don't go during high tide.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

The trail is steep and rocky/slippery in places so don't go if you have ambulatory issues. Don't go in the pools. Read up before you go. The pools look enticing but we saw a guy bleeding and cut up from a wave that smashed him into the rocks. He didn't read before he went obviously! And the dummy had his wife and daughter in there with him. Lots of lava rock but great to see the waves crashing into the rocks. Just be safe and smart while there.

“Beautiful but not when rainy or wet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

The hike would have been fine if it had not been raining. The rain makes the path very slick and muddy. Once there it is so beautiful. Was very rough weather so we heeded the warnings and kept out of the water. Will definately try this again in better weather.

“Hike on down”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

It was beautiful and scary.......stay back and watch the beauty. Believe about the signs. A person that lived there stated to us how many people disregard the signs and die as they are sucked into the surf.

“Beautiful, but traitorous during the winter months”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

This was a beautiful little hike, great parking and wonderful view along the way but when you reach the ocean you see many warning signs of loss of life and being crushed against the rocks to your death etc. during the danger wave time of year. This is when we visited. You could watch the waves crash and get a sense of the rythm and when they would pick up or relax but even so I would warn to stay far enough from the waters edge and exercise caution. Beautiful scenery however.
