The bar and the patio has a great atmosphere and the server (the owner?) loves chatting with their guests and share laughs; he got one of my TripAdvisor Ambassador's pins. They charge though for soda refills like many others in the island and we were also charged full price for an item that we asked for 10 minutes before the end of the happy hour, I want to believe this was unintentional as this was only a couple of bucks in a $90 bill.

We ended up eating at this place because CJ's was over an hour wait. This was the best meal we had while on the island. It is more of a bar setting but the food was fantastic. The only caveat is that the chef was leaving so that could hurt the restaurant but the food was excellent and the service was top notch and the specialty drinks were delicious. They accommodated our children but this is probably not the best place for kids.

We eat here on an ad-hoc basis and had fallen in to the routine of three pupu dishes, costing around $60 as a dinner for two. The food was good and plentiful. As we were seated, I asked if we could take a table for two on the deck and was told "no"! The table was never filled all night. The staff need training - from dress, to greeting, to simple courtesy, to creating a fun environment, it just needs help. For all the interesting décor the place simply lacks ambience. Combo of Pork; beet salad and flatbread is great.

Party of 17, we were asked to call in AM to place order. Meal was served to 14 of our party in one hour. The last 3 were not served for additional 45 minutes. No apologies, no one asked if our meal was OK, and no compensation offered. The three who waited 2 hours were no longer hungry. We got up 3 times to ask about our meals. Even good food not worth the aggravation.

We have been to Kauai a few times, but had not tried this little restaurant before this trip. It was a nice surprise. From the Mai Tai (nice kick and generous) to our lunch meals, everything had good flavours and was served by a friendly and helpful wait staff. Good lunch spot and not pricey. Try it.
