    Owner description: Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden paradise located in the Princeville area on the magnificent north shore of Kauai. The Robertson Family, with the help of their close gardening friend Michael, have transformed their 9-acre retirement home into a breathtaking garden with dramatic landscaping in two steep valleys. The tour includes homegrown honey and fruit samples, as well as a chocolate tasting that teaches you the history of chocolate making. You'll have fun learning about the uses and folklore of native Hawaiian plants and exotic species from around the world. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Visitors can experience the garden on pre-scheduled tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tours are not recommended for children under 6 years. Moderate mobility is needed to go on our nature walk. Please be sure to call us before visiting. Thank you!

    Great experience!

    My partner and I chose this tour for the morning of our wedding day. We could not have made a better choice! Steve was an outstanding guide and the owner, Bill, was very kind and generous. We took the 3.5 hour morning tour and enjoyed every minute and every taste of chocolate. The walk through the gardens was relaxing, informative with so many different varieties and colorful specimens! Would do it again in a heartbeat.

    Also, everyone should be aware – We do not technically offer a 3.5 hour tour (it is just 3 hours). However, our visitors so enjoy their time in the garden and have so many questions, that sometimes tours do run over time.

    Hidden treasure on Kauai's north shor

    This is a magical garden! The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the plants and love to share their passion and knowledge about this the wonderful tropical garden. You get to see cocao trees and then taste custom chocolate. A little pricey but well worth it. I recommend the morning tour when it is cooler. Wear sturdy shoes because you do a bit of hiking.

    Take heed, folks – Peter is right, mornings are our most popular tour times, and we strongly recommend good walking shoes. One of the reasons our gardens are so magical is because of the steep valley landscaping.

    Beautiful

    Very lovely - out toward the end of the road North Shore - then proceed on to the beach at the end of the road....heaven. Hiking trail up Napali Coast as well a lovely beach and snorkeling.

    Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Unfortunately, I believe you have mixed us up with Limahuli Garden and Preserve, operated by the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. They are well worth a visit, even if you have already been on our tour.

    We are located near Princeville (before you drop into Hanalei Bay), and you would have had a chocolate tasting on our tour. It is another 30-40 minutes to the end of the road from our location. Nonetheless, we're glad you had a great experience on the island.

    amazing place and people

    I was just there and I loved it. I learned so much! The garden is so beautiful and you get to sample the fruit from the fruit trees. I also got educated on herbs and plant's healing powers.
