“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Perfect location to get way from it all and relax, yet plenty of restaurants close by. Very nice pool area not crowded (in October). Comfortable bed, good friendly service. Our unit (1523) was clean but ready for renovation. Plenty of space and great view of the mountains. Nice to sit out on the lanai at night for cocktails and watch the sunset.

We just returned from an amazing stay at Hanalei Bay Resort. Our unit was 9222, the view was absolutely stunning. It is a spacious 1br, just remolded, that had all the comforts of home. This was the second place we stayed on our trip - it made our unit at the Kiahuna Plantation look like a motel 6. I rarely feel like cooking dinner on vacation but loved this place so much it made me want to stay in and cook offering more time to enjoy the views.

The restaurant being closed did not effect us, we just walked over to the St. Regis if we wanted to go out for a drink or snack. While the proximity the room to parking may not be ideal for all, we are used to walking with groceries etc being urbanites and loved that it offered quiet being further away from the lot.

9222 is an individually owned unit with an easy booking process. I can't recommend it enough if you are looking for a place to stay on the north shore.

Room Tip: Further away from parking = better views

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in unit 4105 which was fantastic. We rented our unit for our first 4 nights from the Oehm group who also has units 9123, 9124, 4104, 4105 and 4106. All of the units are very close to one another. We stayed the other 4 nights at the Grand Hyatt in Popui, which we could have done without (the north side is way better).

Our unit at Hanalei Bay was stunning. Waking up every morning and having coffee on our patio was my favorite part of the trip. The pictures I have do not even come close to what we really experienced. Aside from the view, our unit was spacious, had great artwork and was steps away from the walking path that lead you to Hanalei Bay. The greatest part about our stay here was that it was located next to the St. Regis (which is right on the bay). We were able to grab cocktails at their bar and rent their paddleboarding and kayak equipment.

Overall, a great experience and Jane Oehm was always quick to shoot me an e-mail with any questions or feedback I had. I highly recommend the stay here. It is much more spacious than a hotel, stunning views and comfortable furniture.

Room Tip: I would go with one of the units I mentioned above or a unit close to it. We were right near the wal...

The views are fantastic, the service is great. The resort rooms are being upgraded and those are great. The grounds are in excellent condition, among with both pool areas. Wound recommend staying there.

We were recently married at this resort and it was beautiful. The staff was excellent. They knew we were staying at the resort for our honeymoon and gave us a room with a great view of the ceremony location and allowed us as well as guests to do an early check in. The property is very well maintained and the pool/hot tub was great and very relaxing. It was very reasonably priced as well. My in-laws ending up missing their flight home and stayed two extra days. The resort was very accommodating and even gave them a discount on the room. The only downside was that there is no dining on the property and it's a huge property so you have to take a golf cart around, but the staff was very prompt and friendly with requests.

Room Tip: We were in building 8. It had an absolutely beautiful view of the bay and mountains.

The Hanalei Bay Resort has a premier location on Princeville with panoramic views of Hanalei Bay, mountains with waterfalls, Na Pali coast and ocean. The environment is very serene. Nice swimming pool and excellent yoga classes on a green overlooking this gorgeous views. Several tennis courses also. Friendly staff willing to drive you around in golf carts to help you carry your bags, groceries and beach staff to your apartment or hotel room. Beach access through a green tunnel of trees. Access by car to several great restaurants and attractions, although one wants to be on property, on one's own private lanai at sunset time DAILY.

Room Tip: Room with a any view (mountain or ocean). I do not believe that there is a room that does not have a...

Our second time visiting Kauai and first time staying on North Shore - the HBR was the PERFECT choice for us. Unit 6304 is a beautifully appointed studio, with an extremely comfortable king bed, two relaxing reading/TV chairs, amusing artwork, sliding louvered lanai doors, and a large flat screen television that is viewable from both the bed and the sitting area. The bathroom is spacious, with an oversized shower, marble counter, and lots of storage space, and the kitchenette includes a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, a mini-fridge, glassware, plates, and silverware for three, and a bottle opener. And inside the closet, you will find two beach chairs, a large beach bag, and several boogie boards. But the BEST part of the unit is the breath taking view of Hanalei Bay and the pali beyond from the lanai, where we spent much of our “in unit” time.

The HBR grounds are gorgeous and impeccably maintained and include two swimming pools, multiple tennis courts, countless walking areas affording outstanding views from every angle, and amazing vegetation and flowering plants. Although the resort is more than 22 acres in size, we (in our early 60s) found everything to be within easy walking distance, including Pu’u Poa Beach, which is located in front of the St Regis Princeville Resort and accessible from a steep but relatively easy walkway from HBR. We used the larger of the two pools, which is truly glorious and large enough to swim laps. The only time we took advantage of the available golf cart shuttle ride was after checking in; we walked the rest of the time, including when checking out.

Now, let’s talk about those roosters – we found them to be delightful and although there is no denying that their crowing awakened me each morning, my response was always a smile and a chuckle! The resort is also home to numerous Nene (Hawaiian geese), Brazilian red capped cardinals, and chickens with their chicks, which are absolutely adorable.

We loved the varying weather found on the North Shore, which included a three+ hour torrential rain storm we experienced one afternoon. The area includes several outstanding beaches, including Anini and Ke’e, as well as numerous shopping and dining opportunities, including Pat’s Taqueria truck at Hanalei Bay pier and Chicken in a Barrel – try both and you’ll see why they’re so highly rated! We loved staying in Unit 6304 at HBR and plan to return next year.

Room Tip: All rooms will provide outstanding views of Hanalei Bay and/or the Pali
