“Pacific Dream Photography”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

Just wanted to pass along that if you are staying at the St. Regis on Kauai, take the opportunity to have some family photos or just the kids taken. The team at Pacific Dream Photography, located right in the hotel, made it so easy. They were very accommodating and fit us in just before we left. We have a 12 year old daughter and she had a great time posing around the beautiful grounds with gorgeous backdrops. The photographer was great, very easy going, fun to work with, and it only took about 45 minutes. Don't miss this great opportunity to get professional photos - they grow up so fast!

We stayed at the St Regis due to it's proximity to the golf courses we were playing on Kauai however found it to be just as nice as a hotel to spend some time in.

Wonderful bar and bar menu with great live entertainment and music each night, nice pool area and it's own private beach which gets stunning sunsets. The hotel itself is deceptively large so be prepared to need to get your bearings until you find the most direct routes to the beach and restaurants etc. The hotel is close (if you have a car) to other restaurants and shops at Hanalei Bay which is nice for a change. Supermarket right next door if required.

We dined one night at The Grill which was lovely. Expensive but for a special occasion worth it. If it's a romantic meal I'd request a small table in a quiet area as the acoustics were difficult with a few large parties in there.

Having spent four nights here I don't think we'll return to Kauai for some time however I would thoroughly recommend the St Regis if you are headed to Kauai. A note about Kauai - as it is called the garden island you can encounter a bit of humidity and showers. It all makes for a varied day and enhances the natural beauty of the island.

Aloha Nicolaaple,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at our Resort. We are pleased to hear you were able to enjoy the golf aspect of our Resort and much more of what our Resort has to offer. Being on the North shore of Kauai allows us some of the most picturesque views and scenery. It would be our sincere pleasure to welcome you back to our Resort.

We spent a week at the St Regis in Feb. It is hard to beat the ideal location.

The hotel is kind of sprawling - so if you have poolside rooms it is a trek back to the lobby.
There were a number of small things that we noticed that made this review a 4 star rather then a 5
And to be fair we did just come from the Four Seasons. However, for the price I did expect a little more...
Food trays and drinks were left sitting in the halls - half filled drinks were left laying around the resort.
The attention to detail was not there as it should be for a resort of this caliber.
Horrible noisy unattended children abound at the pool. I was told that the St Regis shares it's pools and beach front with a time share down the road- I am not sure if this is true but, there were many people at the pool that were not staying at the St Regis. And again I will reiterate - when you are paying TOP $ for your hotel you do not expect to have to deal with this kind of thing. All this being said
If I were to return I would still book this hotel. It is the most beautiful spot on the island

Aloha justvisitingkids,

Mahalo for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at our Resort. We apologize that your stay was anything less than exceptional. We take great pride in being able to provide a flawless experience for our guests, based one your observation we fell below our standards and for this we apologize. The St. Regis Princeville pool is for resort guests, we do allow our sister property, The Westin Princeville to use the beach facility as the beach is open to the public. We appreciate hearing your feedback and I have shared your comments about the resort cleanliness and pool restrictions with our staff in hopes that we may better improve. We hope you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our signature hospitality for which the St. Regis brand is known.

Being together with that one special person for a decade, deserves a memorable celebration. My recent visit to Kauai besides being memorable was also magical and very comfortable.

The island which is almost reminiscent of paradise, offers magnificent views of mountains, water falls, exotic beaches, animal life and......... morning rainbows!!!!

To add a touch of luxury to our vacation, my husband and I stayed at the St. Regis Hotel for 4 nights. The service you'd ask? simply amazing!! From the moment we stepped out the car, the staff was very courteous and welcoming. Everyone from the receptionists, restaurant, pool, valet and housekeeping staff, greeted us with a smile and were always willing to accommodate our requests.

The installations are well maintained, the location of the hotel along the Hanalei Bay is spectacular and offers unobstructed views of the beach and mountains. The infinity pool, one of my favorite amenities, is heated to perfection. It is conveniently located just steps away from the bar, restaurant and the beach.

An hour before sunset, the Lanai was the place to be to enjoy some cocktails, appetizers, music/entertainment and also witness a glorious sun descending behind the endless sea.

Next time I visit Kauai, I would not hesitate to stay at the St. Regis to be pampered again! Mahalo to the Staff who made our stay an unforgettable one.

Room Tip: If you have a late flight back home, request late check out. The hotel may accommodate you with a ho...

We stayed there for a week from July 8th–15th for our 30th wedding anniversary. We wanted a special resort for our vacation -it certainly met and exceeded our expectations It was our third time going to Hawaii. Previous two times we went to a Oahu and Maui. We enjoyed them both and have always heard great things about Kauai. Princeville area is on the North Shore in a great area to stay- beautiful, remote but still a lot to do and explore.Resort had excellent facilities, outstanding service, and excellent food. You never had to leave if you did not want to but there was plenty to do in the area -we wanted to explore the island. The concierge was excellent and very helpful. The desk was open until at least 10 every night so you could ask questions after dinner. The pool and beach areas were very well designed. Although the hotel was pretty full it never seemed crowded there.Hanalei Bay is a nice area with good restaurants and activities – only a short drive away. We drove by the 2 golf course every day – even though we did not play they look beautiful and challenging courses. The Makanna Terrace is a great way to start the day for breakfast and the Kauai Grill is a first-class upscale steakhouse.there are a lot of things to do and see on the Island. We drove to Waimea Canyon and took the boat tour of the Napali Coast-both memorable!Great resort for couples AND families.

Room Tip: High floors for better view and in the main building

My wife and I just went to this property for the first time. I wish we would have read more reviews and listened to our friends that suggested we stay at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu Bay. This hotel has two 4 good things.. Spa, Sunset and Makai Golf Club, Kauai Grill. Thats simply it. The property is highly outdated and needs a complete makeover. The pool chairs look like they are from 1995, the pool area itself is gross. You cannot drink on the beach, there is no music around, you cannot smoke cigars on the beach.. We rented a cabana one day to have fun with some friends.. we were told to put out our cigars and turn off our music. The food at the pool was not good. The breakfast buffet thats 38$/person sucked. I would have been even more upset had we decided to do the Sunday Brunch for 75$ and get what we got. The hallways to rooms are not air conditioned, they are stagnant and smell like mildew. The rooms are small and there are no balconies unless you are on the first floor, which is a mile away from the front of hotel. Main lobby is on the 9th floor. The rooms need new decor and to be redone. Kauai Grill was decent. The apps at the St Regis bar were ok. The spa ok, massage was great. If you play golf, Makai Golf Club is a great golf experience. I loved it and Im an avid golfer. However, I was highly distraught at the fact that the St Regis does not have a house vehicle.. They don't even offer to shuttle you their own golf club!! just another aspect of poor service here. The service staff was very mediocre at all areas on property. This hotel shuts down at 11pm. No bar, no guests, no nothing at night. If you like beach and pool and sun and fun, this is NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!! The beach is horrible.. The sand is very course and not soft, the water is full of coral and rocks and looks brown. If you have ever been to the Caribbean, you will not be impressed by this ocean water in front of this property. on our last day in Kauai, we drove to Poipu Bay. I played golf at Poipu Bay Golf Club and my wife hung out in the spa at the Grand Hyatt. I saw the water and waves front he golf course and called my wife to change our flights and stay a night at that hotel just so we wouldn't leave feeling like we had completely wasted 7 days there. Although we still feel like we wasted 6 days... SO we stayed another night and enjoyed the Grand Hyatt... That place had excellent service, food, atmosphere, water was beautiful 5-8ft waves and an awesome pool/lagoon area. We ended on a good note! I over heard a couple on their honeymoon in the pool saying that they were gonna stay 3 days at Hyatt and 3 days at St Regis, it was all I could do not to tell them DO NOT GO TO ST REGIS!! I didn't want to ruin their honeymoon time, so i ket my mouth shut. If you are young and fun and enjoy luxurious vacations with great food, service and uncompromised amenities, DO NOT waste your time and money at the St Regis.

Room Tip: I dont recommend getting a room here.
