“Excellent value for a group!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

The Plantation is an incredible value. We stayed this week with 6 people, 3 couples who all need their space. We wanted to stay on the north side to make it easier to start the Kalalau Trail easier, and had difficulty finding a 3-room, 3-bathroom condo. Unit 1422 was a gem. Yes, you can trust the advertised price!
-Service was excellent. They dropped off the unit keys at the airport car rental so we didn't have to go out of our way. The 3rd room has 2 double beds that they promptly pushed together and rebedded. Never intrusive, always available. We had no difficulty dropping off the keys in the dropbox after our stay.
-The unit was updated and comfortable. Updated appliances with toaster, microwave, large refrigerator, electric range, washing machine. Complete with expected kitchen amenities, pots/pans, utensils, bowls/plates/cups, even dish soap and dishwasher soap. Bathrooms all had soap/shampoo/conditioner, hairdriers. Washer/Dryer with detergent. Our unit again, was complete.
-We didn't have a single issue with road or chicken noise. Yes, there are many chickens in Kauai, but somehow this is a little chicken-free oasis. Believe me, this may seem silly, but nighttime chicken noise is frustrating in Kauai.
-Large, comfortable covered balcony. We were outside more than inside, no issues with mosquitoes.
-Small pool and hot tub. Our family is very active, so we didn't mind the small pool. Did use the hot tub on several occasions which was wonderful.
-Grill on property- made those steaks taste fantastic. Can be busy, but the other tenants were very gracious and were happy to share the large grill.
-HDTV cable service. Great for watching sports. Also has DVD player, and flat screens in 2 of the 3 bedrooms.
-No air-conditioning. With the Hawaii winds, we never needed it, but this may be important for some.
-Located on the Princeville property, next to the golf course, walking distance to the St. Regis, short drive to a local shopping center with a large grocery store, bar, ice cream/shaved ice stands. Great location.
-No ocean view, which for us was also not a problem as we were always on the move. This again may be a problem for some.
Overall, great value, comfortable well-stocked condo, friendly unobtrusive service, great location on the north side. We'd definitely come again.

Room Tip: Unit 1422 is on the 2nd floor which is better for noise. The 1st floor has some noise issues.

Had terrific time at this beautifully decorated condo. They furnished all the amenities one could ask for to make a vacation fun: bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas for the outdoors. Then indoors, we had cable TV, WiFi network for my laptop and a kitchen with everything I needed to cook delicious local fish and create fresh fruit smoothies. I'm already planning a return trip. All this, and comfortable beds too.

Room Tip: This specific unit is not bordered by a busy road, so we weren't bothered by car noises.

We loved our condo in Princeville! Princeville is a lovely resort area with very nicely kept
grounds. If you want a quiet getaway, this is the place! The condo was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything from kitchen supplies to beach activities! It was so nice not to have to rent anything for our beach excursions..thank you! The condo is very accommodating for families and small groups as with 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths, we had plenty of room! The beds were very comfortable and the master bedroom and bath was amazing! We loved swimming in the pool at night after a full day of activities and dinner and we were usually the only ones in there! The workout room was great too. Hanalei town and Hanalei bay is not far away and a great beach for boggie boarding and swimming. I read every review before we stayed here and all the compliments people made were absolutely true! The only negative I read was to have maybe one more barbecue at the pool. We did not have that problem as we only saw one other person using it. This may be true during the busier times. All in all we loved our stay here and would recommend to all!

The Plantation condo we rented was beautiful and comfortable, but ruined by two things: road noise and terrible service. The main Princeville road was right behind the unit, so road noise and headlights all night long were an issue. Worse, the staff was very rude, dropping notes on our vehicle that we were not allowed to park outside the unit, even though the written condo guide inside the unit told us to do so. When we pointed this out, the comments were impolite to say the least. A written complaint to management was never answered. We will not return. There are too many other condo choices at Princeville.

We stayed here at #621 while waiting for settlement on the place we had bought in Princeville. #621 is a three bedroom, two bathroom, top floor level apartment and is large and very comfortable. The Plantation's two bedroom places are on the lower levels, and therefore, could be noisy if any people in residence upstairs are not considerate. Having said that, we also stayed in a two bedroom, two bathroom place and found #912 to be excellent as well. We were aware of the tenant moving about upstairs but not overtly so.

Both #621 and #912 are exceptionally well appointed and complete with everything one could need, right down to beach equipment. Furnishings are comfortable, island-style, and there is a good pool area and plenty of parking for additional vehicles on-site. The gardens are well maintained and the standard over all is excellent. The kitchens are great for any chef and a full range of appliances is provided in each.

The big bonus we found was the Clubhouse where there is an extensive range of excellent, professional-quality gym equipment. Going around 8:30am meant that there was usually nobody else there and the equipment looked as if it had been barely used.

There are many options for vacation rentals in Princeville and this really is worth considering s a particularly good, family vacation option.

Room Tip: Deal direct with the owners

We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon in a resort and the remaining seven days at the Plantation at Princeville. Dare I say, the condo ended up being nicer than the resort! Our unit (#112) was absolutely gorgeous and beautifully furnished. It was large, airy, and I did not notice or have problems with any traffic or road noise. The unit is on a lower level and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio nightly. Princeville is also a great location for easy access to Hanalei and, slightly further away, Kapa'a without being right in the middle of all the hubbub. It's also a short walk down the road towards the St. Regis to the best sunset we saw all trip! Also a very short drive to park for Queen's Bath which is worth the slightly sketchy hike down to the lava pools. Overall, location was perfect!

As for the condo itself, it was well maintained and the amenities were great! Every time I thought we didn't have something I would look in a different drawer and there it was. From boogie boards, beach chairs, and snorkel gear to zip locks, tupperware, and playing cards; it was all there. We also very much appreciated having a private garage to lesson the worry over the rental car at night.

We did not have a chance to venture into the clubhouse/fitness room but we made daily use of the pool and hot tub. Even when it was "busy" it was still very enjoyable and everyone was friendly and respectful.

Our rental agency, Kauai Vacation Rentals, was friendly, professional, and very easy to communication with during the booking process. They were prompt with their responses, both e-mail and phone, and got us the contract a mere few days after our first point of contact. Key pick-up/drop off was very easy as their office is located right by the airport in Lihue. We also got a slight discount for the week rental as I told them it was our honeymoon in my first inquiry e-mail. Awesome!

Two giant thumbs up for Plantation at Princeville and Kauai Vacation Rentals! We'll definitely be back!

Stayed here for 5 days in September 2010. Upper unit of one of the condos (3 bdrm) facing Ka haku road (balcony views include golf course...and your neighbours).

Unit itself was beautifully decorated, brand new appliances and all, garage well stocked with beach chairs etc. However road noises (traffic) can be terrible, starting from 6am well into the night, there will be a car passing through every 30seconds-minute since this road leads to the St. Regis, particularly noisy around sunset time.

Also the golf course maintenance people were mowing the lawn, cutting down trees when we were there so no chance of lazy sleeping in the morning....we bought earplugs at the supermarket.

But as I mentioned the condo itself (and the common areas like the pool etc) was beautiful, very clean, bathroom was especially large with huge tub, great shower pressure, kitchen fully stocked with all pans and pots needed for cooking (which we did everyday) and the price was good, we got a deal for $150 a night, much cheaper than other areas (probably because of location, no ocean views just golf course). Would we return? Yes but probably to the units that don't face the main road.

A short drive from the Princeville Foodland supermarket, 10 minutes to Hanalei town and beach, 30-40 minutes to Haena beach. Other direction, 40 minutes or more to Kapaa town.
