We stayed here for a few nights on the end of a long vacation. Although this property has no beachfront access (It is on a cliff with excellent views however) we really enjoyed it.

The property is a timeshare property, but you can book individual nights if you are not a timeshare owner. The property is very fresh and in great condition. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was very roomy and very well appointed. It was very clean and in great condition as well.

The staff and the service were really exceptional. Everyone was super friendly, especially to our 3 year old. I requested a scale for luggage and it was delivered quickly. Poolside service was also great. The pool was really nice. The Keiki (children's pool) was also great. It is perfect for the 2-5 year old. Older children may find it a bit shallow, although it has a great slide.

The hotel on site is average. Service is great and the food is good, but nothing too exciting. They have a great little market with the staples needed for dinner and great grills all over the property. This was great!

You also get a 15% discount on dining at the 5 star St. Regis which is about 2 miles away.

A few challenges we encountered:

Parking is a bit of a challenge at times, especially if you are returning in the evening, you may have to park far from your villa.

While we were there they were undertaking some kind of lawn project and at midday someone was walking around the property spraying noxious lawn chemicals. We did get a letter apologizing for this

We were pleasantly surprised when the reservation desk provided an optional upgrade as a Platinum member. We had great rooms that over looked the oceans for both weeks and enjoyed the facilities. The staffs were friendly and pleasant. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the organic choices at the market were a refreshing delight. The platinum reservation person was exceptional and was always asking about our stay. The discounts for owners were well appreciated. Over all we had a great relaxing time at the villa. Special treatment as an owner and Platinum member will certainly bring us back again and again.
Kauai is a great place walking, hiking and golf as well as water activity. There is not much there if you’re looking for shopping mall. No high end stores. Just the basics stuff. It a place to truly relax and enjoy your vacation.

We stayed out at the tip near the ocean and felt like we had a private home on the ocean overlooking the cliffs. Our room had a view of Kilauea Lighthouse overlooking Anini Beach. It was so relaxing to sit out on the lanai day and night; the lamp from the lighthouse beamed through the mist at night and the waves up and down the beach almost sounded like freight-trains crashing - it may not sound like it but is Very relaxing!
The nice thing abou the area/property is that even the views from the parking lot were beautiful.

I have stayed at Westins all over the country and have to say this was one of my least favorite. Don't take that the wrong way....we loved the location and the service was very good but when you consider the actual resort it's not very interesting. There isn't a beach outside your room (they let you use the beach at the swanky St. Regis), there aren't incredible pools (they do have good pools), there just isn't a sense of lux/sophistication which I have experienced at other Westins.
The biggest issue for me was the room configuration. In a standard room you get a tiny kitchen (suitable but you probably won't be cooking in it) which is right by your bedroom.
The bed was an issue. It was a full which is much too small for a couple (we are average weight) on vacation. I wish the bed were wider (as they are in 90 percent of all the places I have traveled). Internet was great and so was cable or the days that rained on the island. They have a little market that sells coffee, fruit, water, and snacks which was great.
The resort is nicely kept with pretty grounds. There are some nice pools and some jacuzzis which were great but for me the places isn't romantic. It's a family -oriented type of resort. Not a slam against families.....I just pictured it as being a little more secluded/romantic.
If you are staying here make sure you ask for a room on the second or third floor. The ground level floors don't have views at all and you will be stuck looking at people walking around.
Now....if you are staying in Princeville and want to get a nice, B+ grade place, that's clean and in a good spot this is it-but it might be best suited for families.

GREAT place with well-priced rooms. Upon check-in, we had a small maintenance problem with our studio room, so we were quickly upgraded to a one-bedroom suite which was amazing. The studio would have been really nice too. Full kitchen, amazing bathroom with jets in the tub (same as the studio room). They brought a crib for our baby which had the most comfortable mattress (the baby version of their adult mattresses) and the service was just amazing. Pool was wonderful, and you can also access the St. Regis beach, which is a wonderful beach for children and families. Too bad the water was too turbulent to go swimming. They also have grills there so you can buy your own meat and grill it. They are 7 minutes away from Hanalei town, and a short drive over to tunnels beach.

Me, my husband and his parents stayed here for two weeks during December. While the hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly, two weeks was far too long to be at this resort. There is really nothing to do in the immediate vicinity of the resort, and there is only so much laying by the pool I can handle. The bar menu was standard food that tasted great, but the hotel restaurant was rather disappointing. We ate dinner there once, when our waitress had no idea about wine, and the food was rather bland. We also had the Christmas day brunch, which we found very disappointing and extremely overpriced. It is odd that the hotel only does brunch once a week, on Sundays.

Our rooms were very large and cleaned every day. The kitchen facilities are adequate, however, there is no oven. Neither my husband and I usually have trouble sleeping, but we both found the beds unbearably uncomfortable, despite claiming to be renowned for their mattresses. The pool was overrun by screaming children. Most hotels have a separate adults only pool, and it was disappointing that this one didn't. There is a beach nearby, but it is almost inaccessible. Without driving miles around the island, the only way to get down is via an extremely steep dirt track. My husband and I went down after it had been raining, and we were both slipping all over the place. You really need to go to Hanalei Bay.

I would recommend this hotel to a family that is looking to just relax and not do much. However, if you can afford the extra, I would recommend staying at the St Regis instead - we went there almost every day and the food, spa and bar was much more enjoyable than what was offered at the Westin. There is much more to do on the south side of the island, so if you are not looking for seclusion I would not recommed staying here. Nevertheless, Princeville is a beautiful area and has some amazing golf courses so I would recommend a 2-3 night stay.

Great location but a little hard to find in a mixed neighborhood of resort condos, hotels, and -- it appears -- year-round residents. We enjoyed the constant sound of the ocean from the bluffs above it and walking down a trail to the water where there was snorkeling and also some probably not legal camping. The resort has good, though not great food, and no breakfast service except to buy from the small convenience store on the grounds. I found that a little odd. Overall, better to eat in the local restaurants of Hanalei Town. Concierge services here sometimes include a pitch to become a villa buyer. It's not overbearing, but it is an example of the schizophrenic personality of what is, in fact, a lovely, lovely place to stay. Don't avoid it, but be prepared for not exactly a typical luxury hotel experience.
