“Very nice.”
Reviewed January 11, 2009

Some of the reviews I had read ahead of time prompted me to warn my husband that we might be pressured to buy a timeshare due to our two-night stay at this property. I am happy to report that, in my case at least, this did not prove true. We had an easy check-in and found the accommodations very well laid out, nicely appointed, and roomy, even for a studio suite. Everything was clean and sleek and there was a shuttered 'window' between the garden tub and the bed/sitting room area, which we left open, but I thought was a nice touch. The villas also included a shower, toilet in a separate room, washer/dryer, and mini kitchen stocked with kitchen utensils and dishes for four. The bed was exquisite, the view of the side pool was nice, and the service we got was good.

We barely had a chance to make use of the pool area, but the hot tubs were nice and there was a small kid's pool, but no slides or anything like that. The restaurant was all right; pretty good, but we went late in the evening and felt a little rushed. The 'grocery' store they have on site so that you can buy things to cook in your villa was rather overpriced and not really comprehensive, so if that's something you plan to do I would probably just stop at a real grocery in town and pick up whatever you're wanting to cook. It's convenient of them to have it available, however. We didn't have a need of their concierge team, either, but they were available and looked like they would be proficient at their job.

We left the resort feeling like we could have certainly spent a few more days there in order to really enjoy everything they had to offer. We had a lot of activities planned outside the resort so we didn't really avail ourselves of many of their services. Overall, A+.

This is a 3 star resort at best. Nothing like the other Westins I have stayed at. Pool is the highlight of this property. Food is mediocre. Service is well-intentioned but average. Breakfast buffet was seriously lacking. Rooms are nice but all of them face the pool quad which is very busy. This is not the place to go if you want a secluded, romantic getaway. This is a place for families and lots and lots of kids. I hope this property will improve as time goes on. Overall, wouldnt think of going back- not for the food or the ambiance. Im waiting for the Princeville Hotel to reopen in April 09.

We are Westin timeshare owners, so, of course, we are a little partial toward them. This is a new resort, so you will find that they are still working on things--like the golf course, but it is definitely a Westin experience. Beautiful rooms, great service, lovely grounds. I do think this particular property is tailored more toward couples than families--they don't have big pools with slides and such. Our kids our 16 and 19, so it was great for us.

We booked this stay using my timeshare trading week. We were very happy with just about everything we experienced.
The service was fantastic! Every single employee we had any interaction with was friendly, responsive, and proactive with suggestions and assistance. The room was very clean and well equipped. The grounds were maintained beautifully. The gym was well equipped with steam, sauna, lots of fresh clean towels, and plenty of equipment. The on-site store was fairly priced and stocked daily with fresh fish, chicken, steak and veggies for guests wishing to grill their own meals. Our only frustration was with the air conditioning unit which is based out of the bedroom. It's unusually noisy and "klunks" on and off. The washing machine was out of balance but the engineering team came and took care of our request immediately. We stayed in building #3 which was perfectly situationed near the cliff with ocean views and lush grassy yardscape.
We will definitely stay here again.

  • Disliked — The noisy air conditioner.

We pretty much agree with the "Dissapointing" review that you will find on this property and this site. But, now the property is finished.
It rained a lot while we were here and there are virtually NO common areas to simply "hang out." This property is not a Westin class property.
It is new, and therefore, nice in some regards. But, it lacks a beach (or any real access to one -- it is on a cliff). It is clearly an attempt to sell timeshares, with the check-in greeting pushing slightly. We had booked the Princeville Hotel, but it is closed for renovations. The Westin is a sad alternative. There are many other places at, or less than the price of the Westin Princeville that seem more satisfactory.
We did love the workout room and the grills, but, otherwise, we would pass on this place. And, we are pretty impressed with Westin properties.

  • Liked — The rooms are immaculate
  • Disliked — No common areas, no beach

We really enjoyed this new hotel. Very nice rooms, great furniture, Westin beds, etc. This is not a mega-hotel---just one restuarant on premises. Plan to chill on the north shore.

I thought this hotel was nice, but the online presentation makes it seem much more grand than it really is. Over-all a nice hotel. Pros: Some of the staff members are extremely curteous and have excellent customer service skills. When we arrived, it was quite late and the Manager (I think) had security open up the market for us so we could get a bite to eat. The Manager of the concierge department is wonderful and hopefully the hotel will recognize her "above and beyond" service. There was also a wonderful hostess at the hotel restaurant who squeezed us in and saved our Thanksgiving dinner. We had reservations at a horrible little restaurant called Bouchons. We were told they could only take us at 7:30. When we arrived (early at 7:00), they seated "walk-ins". We were also told they would have a full menu, thanksgiving dinner, and sushi bar. As we were deciding what to order, we were told that it was only a planned menu. Then a few minutes later, the waitress came by and told us they were sold out of turkey. 5 minutes later, were told they were sold out of everything but 2 items on the menu. Basically at 7:15 they were out of food even though they had taken reservations. Diner at the hotel restaurant was fabulous.

Cons: Roosters all over the island. They crow at sunrise and there is no possibility of sleeping in on vacation unless you are a very heavy sleeper. Beaches aren't as nice as Maui. Most of the activites are on the South side of the island so be prepared for a 40-60 drive one way.

  • Liked — Some few staff members who went above and beyond
  • Disliked — roosters crowing at the crack of dawn, no beach, no spa
