“Beautiful”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Great place for families. Smaller than other Westin resort villas, so pools are not crowded and the hotel has the feeling of a smaller resort. Beautiful setting, grounds well taken care of. Would highly recommend this resort for families with small children as the villas have plenty of space and kitchenettes. All staff very friendly and relaxed.

Room Tip: Ask for buildings 4, 6 or 7 for good ocean front views and quieter rooms.

I know this place gets dinged sometimes for the lack of beach access but if you are a family interested in all the space and convenience of a condo but with the 24/7 attentive service of a 4-5 star resort, look no further .

The food in their deli is actually quite decent and, wonder of wonders, is actually reasonably priced . Same goes for the spa and other services .

I was pleasantly surprised at not having to fork over a fortune for a pizza for my kid that some of the other resorts of this caliber charge for .

The place is big enough and provides all the services you need , yet does not intimidate you with either the 1) all you can eat /swim / raise hell / " buffet type " nature of gigantic, 19 story tower resorts or the 2) snobbery that sometimes comes associated with the high end luxury chains . In some sense , this place truly reflects the harmony and balanced nature of kauai .

The location works perfectly if you want to enjoy the north shore of kauai but will be a problem if you intend to spend more time in the south or west shore . This is maybe the only "shortcoming ", but again in my opinion , on a calm, sunny weather day , the ambiance at tunnels beach in North Shore beats every single item on kauai.

Room tip -- avoid bldgs 1 and 2, ask for higher floors to mitigate the kauai rooster soundtrack (if that's an issue) . we were in bldg 5 and had a great view of the golf course plus some distant ocean view.

The spacious villas provides the comforts of home with amenities including the fully equipped kitchens, washer dryers, large bathrooms with whirlpool tubs and separate showers, the Westin Heavenly Bath, the Westin Heavenly Bed, complimentary high speed internet access and more. The Princeville Market located at the resorts offers some basic grocery items for the convenience of our guests in addition to grab and go offerings such as hot and cold sandwiches, salads, fruits, pizzas, smoothies, Starbucks coffee drinks. The market also offers sundry items, postcards, books and magazines. The resort is located on an ocean bluff and although not beachfront, is located near many of the islands most beautiful beaches. The staff at the resort will provide guests with a Beach Guide that outlines the nearby beaches and provides information including facilities at the beaches, favorite activities, driving directions and Ocean Safety information. We hope you choose to stay with us again in the near future. Mahalo and Stay Well!

The hotel is conveniently located and the staff is very accommodating. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was very nice and well equipped although the bathroom is openly connected to the bedroom making privacy a problem. There was no view from our room but the lanai was relaxing regardless. There is usually no parking available by your building so you need to park a bit far away which is not ideal during the frequent rain showers - have your hotel umbrella handy! The biggest complaint I had was about the food which is below average. We opted for the free breakfast buffet in lieu of the daily cleaning and ended up canceling because the quality was so bad even though we did not need to have our room cleaned. The free buffet is for one person so you are paying $30 plus anyway including tip for two. I never saw a breakfast buffet with such a limited fruit selection - in Hawaii at that! One word about the St. Regis - although I read reviews to the contrary, the staff was very welcoming to me as a a Westin guest every time and took the time to explain the pool facilities to me. The beach there is one of the best in the world! Don't miss it! Overall, the a Westin was a comfortable, friendly andconvenient place to stay and a good alternative to the St. Regis when staying in Hanalei.

We are Starwood timeshare owners & traded our home location in Arizona for Kauai. So glad we did. The resort is beautiful, even in the rain. We had a one-bedroom unit & found it spacious & very clean. The bedroom was not overly large, but large enough & the view of the ocean was spectacular. Before we went they said they could not promise an ocean view, but they gave us a great one! The kitchen had service for 6 (glasses, plates, etc.), a full-sized refrigerator, 4-burner stove, large microwave, but NO oven! We ended up not needing an oven, but it seemed odd to not have one. The grills by the pools are plentiful & easy to use. The kitchen also had measuring spoons, but not dry goods measuring cups. A 2-cup liquid measuring cup was included, as was a manual juicer. It also had a potato masher, but no grater. Our concierge, Nani, was very nice & helpful. In fact, all the staff was very friendly & helpful. A fair amount of construction/repair was going on & they had someone to help ensure safety of the guests in getting around the men & equipment. Also, the roosters are ever present & they let you know they are there. The Monday morning Vacation kick-Off was a 45-minute presentation by various staff members & an outside vendor or two on what to do. Everyone (or each family, I am not sure) was also given a raffle ticket. They gave away a lot of things & even everyone who didn't win was told to see a concierge to get a gift. I won the massage that was raffled off. It was done in a cabana overlooking the ocean! It was amazing! Summer did a superb job & the environment was breath-taking. We hope to return.

I choose to stay in the north area of Kauai, this time (3rd visit to the island)
I bought a 3 nights package (Hotel and Car) via Hawaiian Airlines. my package was with the Westin and Alamo.
I have to say the Westin Princeville Resort exceeded my expectation. The Villa Room has everything to be very comfortable. Bathroom double sink. Separate toilet. Bathtub had a whirlpool.
Small Kitchenette with full size refrigerator, flat stove with 2 electric range, 10 cup coffee maker, small dishwasher, all kitchen dinnerware to set up a nice dinner table.
The Villa had a washer and drier, which I used, because I did not want to come back to do laundry. The market place can prepare you a good tasty pizza to carry out. Various swimming pool around the area. Plenty of Parking areas. Connie, the concierge, helped to find a Napali Coast Sunset Tour, I did appreciate that she shopped around to find me a good price. There is a Foodland Supermarket at the entry of Princeville.
I was at their restaurant in the morning for buffet breakfast, all you can eat for $20.00.
I would definitely stay in this place again and I highly recommended it. You will not be dissapointed. Great customer service.
Great customer service and

Room Tip: I saw an entry to a beach area. However, I did not go. They are grill areas around the Resort.

In the interest of full disclosure...we got a deal in the mail to stay here. It is definitely a condo experience - if you want a hotel experience, go to the St Regis.

We stayed over Thanksgiving and had a nice time. We upgraded to a 1 bedroom and the extra space was definitely worth it. We rented a cabana on Thanksgiving and had a very relaxing time - the cabana rental was definitely worth it! The roosters did not bother us at all.

The on property restaurants were ok - we used the grills quite a lot for dinner. Definitely go to a grocery store and get food, supplies, etc for the room.

Overall we had a nice time - I don't know that we would go back but, given the package we got, it was a great deal and a great vacation with that in mind.

As seasoned travelers, we have certain expectations of our accommodations The Westin met them all including facility appointments, staff courtesy and responsiveness, cleanliness, concierge helpfulness and desire to please. As Starwood and RCI timeshare owners, we have travelled extensively and have established standards of excellence. Westin Princeville is right up there with the the best. Our hope is that this Princeville resort will have space for us to exchange into next December.
