“Great service but expensive”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

I thought it was overpriced but then most things on the island are expensive. Excellent service. We waited probably a little over 5 minutes to be seated and the server kept apologizing for our long wait. Food was good but again, not for what you pay. Excellent customer service. Would go back again.

“Quick service”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Reasonably good night out our table for six was a little cramped once all the plates and bread basket was on but we managed- good salad selection and our group enjoyed their food - service was good and efficient with a good selection - we were self catering so only went once - not a special evening out but pretty good value.

“Atmosphere and Great Food”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Service with a smile. Food can be a little pricey, but they have some light plates for less that are very good. Great salad bar. Amazing dessert. Average drinks. Atmosphere feels real old-world Hawaiian...outside seating on deck. Very enjoyable.

“Service with a real smile”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Main:
As a vegetarian, there wasn't much to choose from on the menu - like most restaurants (other than those specialising in vegan and vegetarian meals), but it was hot and I opted for the salad bar option. Everyone else's food (group of 9) looked amazing and sounded like it tasted just as good. The salad bar was a good selection and of better quality than some 'all you can eat' salad bars that I've seen.
Dessert:
We were pretty full after our dinner, but a few of us decided to split some dessert. The Oreo Mud Pie is to die for!! Coffee flavoured (but not too strong) icecream on an Oreo biscuit base...heaven was melting in my mouth!
Service:
We had an amazing waitperson with an even more amazing smile. He didn't seem to be smiling for any reason other than the fact he was a naturally happy guy. He was beyond our customer service expectations, and we left him a well deserved, hefty tip for his trouble.
Post dining service:
A week after eating at CJs, one of our party had a banking query from their credit card statement. We called CJs on their behalf and we were put through to the owner. He called us back to save us using up credit on our cell phone and went through all records from the date of us being there to the current date to try to help us figure out what was going on. The phone call ended without resolution, but with us feeling comfortable that he had checked everything at their end. We decided to check with the bank in question and the owner suggested that we call him back if it couldn't be resolved and he would follow up with the bank. In the end, the person with the query checked their statement again and the bank had already fixed the problem, so no problem in the end, but we were so impressed with the way the owner went out of his way to clear it up and help us out as much as he could.

“So-so food, not worth the price”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We were warned that food would be expensive in Kauai, but this was the one place that we visited where we felt like we really overpaid for what we got. The food was okay, not great, and expensive. The salad bar however was nice and fresh.
