Really a great location right accross the street from some of the best snorkeling in Kauai. The sunset views are spectacular. The rooms were updated and well stocked. My wife and I appreciated all of the extra towels and linens already in the room. The full kitchen is a big benefit as you have the option to eat in every now and then. We also took advantage of the laundry room which allowed us to pack lighter for the trip. The staff was pleasant although i would have appreciated a little more information on what was available on the grounds. My wife and I did some exploring to find all of the amenities, which were plentiful. The internet access was a little troublesome but worked enough for what we needed. Overall, a really nice place to stay and a location we would choose for a return trip.

Room Tip: Get a room on one of the top floors as the ocean views are great.

We stayed here on an exchange for 1 week. The front desk was very helpful and allowed us to check in 1 hour early. We asked for a unit with a washing machine in the unit and was put into the Ali'i building, which had been recently refurbished. Thus the furniture was new and apartment quite spacious. However, there were several kitchen utensils that were not particularly clean, which meant I had to wash everything before using. I also had to request for a kettle.
The resort is opposite to a small, very rocky beach, but there were fishes to see when snorkeling, and waves for surfing, so convenient. Easy to catch the sunsets when not cloudy. Poipu beach is nearby and better with more sand. No restaurant on site but enough eateries nearby.
The grounds were well-kept. Maintenance was very prompt - they came immediately when there was a problem with the sliding door. Internet occasionally played up. The orientation meeting was helpful.
Despite the hefty $60 weekly resort fee and a $5 admin fee, there was NO mid-week clean. I would have thought that could have been provided. Also, it can get a little warm without air con, despite us being there in the winter.

We've been fortunate with several visits to Hawaii, including other resorts on Kauai. LBR is fine for people who already know their way around; for new arrivals, their reception services are abysmal. Example: directions to our building....”over there”. No instructions for internet access, no map of the general (Poipu) area (there was a small map of the immediate grounds), no instructions for DVD/CD/TV setup. We did eventually get these things figured out. Some other features were a bit sparse - minimum shower supplies, no midweek housekeeping – but still quite adequate.
We'd requested (twice) the Banyan or Ali'i buildings; naturally we were placed in the Coral. This was still a nice unit, but quite small and no AC. This would NOT be appropriate for 4 people.
The location is excellent – walk across the street to a beautiful beach area (probably better for watching the water than swimming) and great surfer watching. Kitchen was nicely equipped. Very nice pools, and BBQ areas handy and well-maintained. Landscaping was beautiful. Sunday evenings featured a delightful Keiki hula show at the main pool. Very impressive. Would we stay again? Yes, but we'd lobby hard for the Ali'i building.

Room Tip: Try to get the Ali'i or Banyan buildings. Coral is original building on site, and our 1bR suite was quite small by timeshare standards.

This is our second stay at the Lawai Beach Resort. Previously we stayed in a one bedroom ground floor unit. This time we are in a two bedroom third floor unit. Besides the room the best part of the resort are the pools and hot tubs. Across the street is a great beach to snorkel but go early before too many people are there. Skip the mini golf, they don't even provide colored balls only white ones which makes it difficult to tell them apart (rated service down due to this as this is something that comes with the $60 weekly resort fee). On Sundays there is a hula show. The grounds are beautiful.

Great place to stay, location can not be beat! Condos were fantastic, Alii building 1207(2nd floor) was where we stayed Dec 8-15, 2012. Rooms were large and all the extras you need are provided. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained, rooms were modern and in great shape. Noise from parking lot was not problem like in some reviews, ceiling fans did great job and I don't like heat! Best snorkeling around is right out front(100 yards) Exercise room large and well equipped, mini golf(18 holes) on garage roof was fun. Pools were great( could be warmer) and views from rooms face ocean(Alii and Banyon buildings) These buildings and 2nd-4th floors best!
Poipu Beach close by, stores also close in Koloa Town. Hope to return some day!

Room Tip: Alii or Banyon building 2nd to 4th floors!
