“Friendly service”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We were treated well at the Hyatt, friendly, prompt service. Their pools and sunbathing areas are amazing. It's so big that it never felt crowded lying out by the pool. There is also an adults only pool that is nice if you are without children and want a more relaxing atmosphere. The pool bar was great and the drinks were not watered down like all the other places we went to in Poipu! However, for $14 a drink I would expect it not to be watered down. The Tai Chi drink was fabulous. The food at the pool bar was also good. I had a chicken Caesar salad and the portions were plentiful. The breakfast was also good but pricey for breakfast. The beds were extremely comfortable with feather pillows. The rooms are also well insulated,we never heard a sound at night. The Tides restaurants served excellent, moist, fish but there prices are very high. The Hyatt could definitely use an upgrade. The Roos are nothing fancy and the hallways are boring and bland. Not what you expect for a $400+ a night hotel. It is not very elegant looking except in the lobby and restaurants.

My husband and I stayed here recently. We went to Hawaii to renew our vows. We did not renew our vows through the hotel because it was too expensive to do so, however the hotel was great once they knew that we were there for a special occasion. We were sent champagne for our "honeymoon" and then we were sent another bottle for our "anniversary". They sat us in a special table on the water in one of the restaurants on the night of our renewal as well. The pools, lagoon, spa, restaurants, shops, etc. were all great. The staff were all friendly! Our Luau did get cancelled due to weather, and they could not move it inside because of a big company that was there that already had the ballrooms booked. That was a bummer, but we did see some of the Luau on a different day that we could not attend and it seemed really nice. There are other Luaus on the island that can be attended as well. It is a bit expensive for the restaurants and for drinks, but we expected that with going to Hawaii. We had an amazing experience and are starting our fund to go back. This will be the hotel that we go back to when we go!! Loved it.

Room Tip: We were in a room where the outside area was where they hold many outdoor events, such as Luaus, but...

Green Features: They are a non-smoking hotel and we appreciate that, but we are both smokers and would have appreciated a couple more places where people can smoke. The areas were very few and far between and we could not smoke on our lanai.

We had the Hyatt Chase credit card with the free stay bonus. We arrived very late at night. The representative was very nice and gave us an upgrade to a partial ocean view room. Although it was partial ocean view, I can't forget how amazing it was when I open the curtain in the morning. Everything was very comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here for about 10 days. The hotel was recommended to me by a friend but it exceeded every expectation we had for our honeymoon. The hotel, although big, is VERY well maintained and the ocean view when you first walk into the lobby is breathtaking. The perk about staying at a larger resort was there was plenty for us to do during the day. There are about 5 different pools, including the salt water lagoon which is HUGE and includes a sandy beach as well as an adult only area which was also very nice and a tad quieter than the other areas. The food was EXCELLENT...the morning brunch held us over until well into the afternoon and the lunch options around the pool area so great quality food. Being from Miami I didn't find the hotel prices to be that exorbitant... it was not cheap but also not outrageous. The service and staff are second to none...they are all very hospitable and always pleasant. Also, the servers always call you by your married name which is a nice touch considering we had just gotten married. Our room was a deluxe ocean view which was very spacious, the bathroom was very large with a dual vanity and the housekeeping staff were fabulous. We stayed on the third floor not far from the spa and fitness center (also fantastic!!!) which was soo nice because the hallways on the third floor are all open and outside. We absolutely loved our stay and Kaui is an amazing island with a lot to do and see and we are excited to go back!!!

Room Tip: Deluxe ocean view is worth the splurge and staying on the third floor gives you direct access to the...

Aloha Maria S,

Congratulations on getting married and Mahalo for giving us the opportunity to be apart of your Honeymoon. We are honored to have provided you a Honeymoon that exceeded your expectations.

Mahalo for your kind words regarding the Resort. Although we are 52-acres, our team works vigorously to ensure the property is as breathtaking as possible. The lobby is an amazing part of the property that gives you that "Grand" welcome, and we're glad you experienced it. The pools and lagoons are unique parts of our property that should not be missed because it is definitely a highlight when it comes to fun in the sun at our Resort.

Again, thank you for your raving review and we hope to welcome you back to the Resort again soon.

A Hui Hou,
Kayla H.

This Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa was the highlight of our vacation. After the Big Island and Maui. We didn't want to leave this beautiful place. The hike on the shoreline made us share something awesome. I hope someday we can come back.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms away from lobby are quieter.

Aloha Dardmister,

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. It is truly an honor to hear that your time at our property was the highlight of your trip.

Kauai tends to make great impressions on our guests and some people fall so in love with the island, they dread to leave. The island has so much to explore and discover, like the shoreline hike you had the chance to experience. It's great to know that you had the opportunity to not only enjoy the property but to also check out what the island has to offer. Kauai's lush and natural beauty is unique.

We hope for the opportunity to welcome you back to the island again soon.

We had heard so many good things about this hotel that we doubted they could all be true. It was better than we heard! Rooms were great, pools/lagoon/waterslide were amazing, staff were so kind. The spa was a great perk too. The only slight slight downside was that we didn't get an upgrade despite being Hyatt Platinum members, but they gave us a statement credit. I wish we could go back and maybe one day we can, but it was possibly the best travelling experience of our life, and the GHK was the place to be.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are so happy to hear that others had great things to say about our Resort and we are even more thrilled to know that your time with us proved the recommendations right.

Mahalo for your kind words regarding your room and the pool facilities. Anara Spa is also another great location on property to experience Paradise's tranquility and beauty - we are glad you had the chance to check it out.

We are honored to know that your stay with us was the best travelling experience of your life. Your feed back is greatly valued and we hope to have you back with us again soon for another great stay.

My husband and I stayed here during the first part of our honeymoon. I loved it the second we arrived. We were greeted with Lei's and found a bottle of champagne in our fridge. (They also gave us a free cabana to use at the pool) The bathroom was amazingly large! The grounds/pools are beautiful, the staff knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. Restaurants were good too but a tad bit expensive. The Concierge were great and set us up with some wonderful excursions. Oh and the breakfast buffet was AMAZING. Soooo good! I miss it.

Complaints.
1. Our room was supposed to be a "ocean view". While we could definitely hear the ocean, seeing it was another matter. We were just off center of the U shape of the hotel and over looked the pools. If we looked through the distant trees, we could see the ocean waves. Honestly, I couldn't really be mad about that even though we paid extra for the view.

2. I went to use the free laundry facility in the hotel on the last night that we were there. After that, we were moving on to another island and needed fresh clothes. I was really disappointed with the cleanliness of that room. It was small and the machines smelled strongly of mold. (Our clothes did not smell of the mold after we used it though.) I also saw a cockroach in there which I'm not sure if was normal since I believe they are indigenous to the island. It did freak me out though. I did not see any bugs anywhere else in the hotel.

3. "Adult" pool was not kept for Adults only. Kids did use it though it wasn't much of a noise problem.

I would most definitely return to this hotel in a heart beat. It made for a lovely honeymoon stop. I've been trying to talk my husband in returning for our one year anniversary! Wish me luck!

Room Tip: Being in the center of the U that surrounded the hotel was a very lovely spot.
