My daughters and I loved this resort! The rooms were beautiful with a lovely ocean view and the beach was great for walking and a little surfing. We had a great time on the island and will return shortly to this property.

Room Tip: Ocean view or partial at least!

This property may be the best on the island of Kauai. The rooms were probably 3.5-4 star quality. Nothing that spectacular. The property was amazing though. The lazy-river-style pool(s) with connecting water slide, salt-water lagoon, and beach area are done in such a way that you may never want to leave. Service from the staff is extremely courteous, including no-hassle towels and free bottled water any time. The valet service also hands out towels and bottled water if you want it as you leave the hotel. Very nice. The cost for drinks/dinner is high, but it IS Hawaii after all. It's much more practical to eat at some close local restaurants.
The concierge service was fantastic as well and very helpful for excursions.
If I were to go back to this island, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: The hotel is spread out quite a bit, so knowing the layout to choose a room is beneficial.

This is an outstanding property by any account. The layout, the people who work there and the rooms live up to the 5 star standard. By far one of the nicest resorts in Hawaii. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars because we were so disappointed in the restaurant food (except the poolside food which was very good). For such an amazing property the food at the various restaurants should match. The prices are high and while that is to be expected in Hawaii so I accept that but the quality of the dishes should be as outstanding as the property itself. They were not. We stopped eating on the property after two tries and went outside to the neighborhood to have dinner. Yes we will be back!!!!

My husband and I spent four nights at the Grand Hyatt as part of our honeymoon. We enjoyed our stay very much. The resort is located right by the beach and the resort grounds are lovely. We had a partial ocean view room which was a great size and decorated well. Only downside with the room is that the bed was really uncomfortable. I slept terribly every night during our stay.

The restaurant Tidepools has excellent food and great service.

The resort is very family orientated with lots of kids everywhere. As we were on our honeymoon, we were after more peace and quiet which was hard to find. Definitely more of a family resort which is great if have a family.

Was not too happy about paying a resort fee - I believe that all fees should be covered under the resort price.

Overall a great resort and would probably go back if returning to Kauai.

Probably one of the nicest hotels on Kauai, only because it is one of the newer properties. Ocean view is picturesque, but the lagoons and pool seem a bit fake like a Disney resort. Staff is attentive but not overbearing. The rooms are average, and could be any other Hyatt in the hotel chain. Don't need to come back.

I have stayed in many resorts, but this one takes the cake. We were originally gonna be in a garden room but we were upgraded to a full ocean view, room 4006-unbelievable view and felt like we were in our own little cottage. Loved sleeping with the sliding glass doors open and hearing the ocean crashing outside. The grounds are gorgeous and there are several wonderful pools-we especially enjoyed the lagoon seawater pool and also enjoyed shipwreck beach right there on property. Too rough for swimming but Poipu beach is a 5 minute drive. The brunch was great, good food options for all meals and a friendly and helpful staff. My only slight criticisms are that there were not nearly enough umbrella's and the sun is so strong it's not possible to lie out without shade. I've never seen such a big resort with so few umbrellas and people fighting for them. Also the entertainment in the lounges was mediocre, one night there was an acoustic performer who was off key and looked bored, and then in the library they had a jazz band who were quite good but no one seemed to be watching-I think people would enjoy Hawaiian or more beach boys, beatles type music that suits the feeling of Hawaii. But I would return here in a heartbeat it is truly amazing and I can't wait til my next visit. Fantastic!

Aloha lindy r,

Thank you so much for your raving review and Mahalo for staying with us! We are honored to hear that your stay was "spectacular!" It was a pleasure to upgrade your room during your stay and we are glad you loved 4006. Great idea to have the sliding doors open to hear the ocean, sounds peaceful. Mahalo for your kind words regarding our Resort.

We appreciate all your feedback and sincerely apologize for your experience with not finding enough shade near the pools. Your comments will be shared with our leadership team as we value your review. In addition, we are thrilled to her that you would return in a heartbeat and we too, cannot wait for your next visit.
